Hang on a minute. Did it occur to anyone that those clothes may have been donated? Or were fakes? I am a regular buyer of The Big Issue - have been for a long time - and a friend of mine actually used to sell the magazine. The Big Issue is sold by people who are homeless, yes, but don't misunderstand the term. A homeless person is anyone who does not have a home - if you're sleeping on a friends sofa then you can be classified as homeless! And as for that ridiculous comment about the hotel for £100 b&b - that's £3000 a month 'rent'! Remember that the people that sell The Big Issue do so for a reason - they can't just go out and get a job as they don't have an address so they sell the magazine to survive. If you're not sure about the vendor ask to see their ID. If they don't have one, don't buy from them. And if all that doesn't convince you and you still think that they have it easy (!?) then don't buy the magazine to help them. Buy it because it's a good read!

Jana, I couldnt agree with you more! everything u said i just want to back up. I just have one simple question for all the doubters of the work the big issue does;
They sell the magazine for £1.50 the only get 70p of this in their pocket, most people walk on by, how much money do u really think can be made from selling it and how much respect do u think they get! Do you really think selling the big issue is a viablly economic way of making money!
and to reiterate what Jana said, there is no way anyone who is staying in a place worth £100 a night is earning there money on the street!
To answer the question about the clothes, maybe they have become homeless after being quite affulant so maybe they have quite nice clothes but nothing else!

It`s the very same where I live, if you feel the need to donate to charity make it a Cancer Charity or NSPCC directly to them, I always though it was genuinely homeless people that collected for the Big Issue but obviously not, the one where I live, gets B&B in the local hotel at £100 per night, who`s the daft one eh ? Yeah you guessed it, the TAXPAYER !!!!!!!
