I ask this because at the time I'm posting this, lots of Australians are on. With my night shift hours, I'm pretty much sharing the same hours as the Aussies

I think fairly similar to ours ... except we probably live in a more relaxed environment, highly emotional outbursts are considered uncool here (whereas many Americans do get just a little wound up on here :-)) and less money can buy you more here.

I think there's a lot more pressure on in the US as the 'safety net' isn't there or at least it has a lot of holes in it.

We're a lot more socialist in our thinking (overall) in that we have a deep seated belief in looking after those who are struggling. Accordingly we can get on with life knowing we'll be (reasonably) well looked after if we hit hard times (i.e. welfare system, public pensions and medicare).

Even our 'right wing' is pretty tame compared to the US.

So, overall, I reckon its similar, but Americans probably have more material possessions and we have more relaxation.

Hey Pauly,
Its funny you ask that because I think about the states a bit lately. Ive never been overseas, and my curiousity is starting to get the better of me.
There used to be a show playing here called 'Roseanne' starring Roseanne Barr which I thought was hilarious, albeit dangerously close to my own upbringing.
I think of this show when I think of middle class american families.
Americans are kind of like Australians I guess, but louder, and maybe a bit more highly strung?
More demonstrative, or something I dunno, Im thinking out loud here, they seem to fit a lot of words into an otherwise short sentence.
No offence meant of course, and granted I havn't actually met that many personally, but I couldnt say I know any really laid back americans.
For that reason, youre all a pretty intriguing lot...

i don't think Obama ever claimed to have grown up undesirable. it particularly is complicated to have this way of worldly upbringing as he had and be interior the poorhouse. as properly, i'm particular his mom did not spend $15K a 365 days back interior the Nineteen Seventies. so some distance as going to non-public college, you do not must be prosperous, and you do not even must be top-middle type. I went to non-public colleges for the time of my adolescents, and my mothers and fathers have been working type. They paid for it via fact they SACRIFICED...we in no way had sort new autos or flashy outfits, and the final couple of years of h.s. i replaced into on scholarship b/c of my grades (which gave my individuals a injury). They did what they mandatory to b/c they actually cared approximately my practise and the time-honored public colleges in my city (Detroit) sucked. So all of those products approximately not with the ability to locate the money for inner maximum college once you're middle type is a load of rubbish.

mmm,
i dunno
why do americans think that aussie life is having kangaroos hop around in our backyards alligators (which you don't even find here in Australia) coming into our houses and torturing people?
haha, its kinda funny actually.
I guess alot of things are influenced by movies.

IMO I think its a struggle. The US Govt is cramping on civil liberties and I would think this impacts middle class the greatest.

Australian is awesome, I would live no where else, except in Siberia.
