Yup, E4400 is FAST. In benchmarks below even its slower brother, the E4300 beats the 3.2ghz Pentium D (dual core):

Great overclocker too. On a good motherboard, 3.0ghz is like a walk in the park.

E4400 is faster than Pentium 4 3GHz even in applications for single core processors. If an application knows how to use multiple cores E4400 gets additional boost. Besides, 2 cores are better for multitasking than one.

The link below is to Toms Hardware, you can select cpu's for comparison in various tasks and see the results, different cpu's do different things better, and yes keep in mind the software must be able to use a dual core processor for it to be a benefit and then your speed will not double because of the overhead used

The dual core would be faster ONLY if the game is designed to use 2 processors. Some of the newer games will.
