I miss the past like crazy. I'm turning 15 very soon and I should be happy about it, but I'm not. I feel like crying. I miss swinging on the monkey bars, going for picnics with my family and doing all the things a child would do. I used to be really close to certain people in my family and now I only see them occasionally and that's just to rush after my little cousin. At Christmas, we don't play board games anymore or dance or make a fool of ourselves. Last Christmas, everyone but me sat doing nothing, while I played with my little cousin the whole time. It upsets me because there is nothing more important to me than my family. People in my year are doing drugs, having sex and so on and I feel like an alien. I'd never do drugs and wouldn't have sex yet, which SHOULD be the normal thing, but why do I feel like the odd one? I keep looking back at old photos and crying over them and watching old videos sometimes makes me think of suicide. I wouldn't actually kill myself, but why!?

Sounds like you also have too much time on your hands. I mean, if you were busy, you wouldn't be writing a pointless answer, right?

You are changing from a boy into a man. I think you yearn for the carefree days and lack of responsibility. Although you aren't quite there yet perhaps you are apprehensive about becoming an adult who is responsible for so many more things than a child. I would advise you talk to a parent or older male relative. Remember we've all gone through it. When you are through it you will realise you were worried for nothing.
Good luck

To some extent, I really do miss the past. I miss the days of being ignorant of what was really going on at home and I didn't know about the pain knowledge could cause. But then, if I just live in the past, I can't look towards better things for the future. All in all, I think all of my experiences have made me who I am today :)

That's a part of growing up..Most of the people miss the past but getting older you'll have new experiences and enjoy growing up. You don't have to let go of the past. Maybe during holidays see if they'll still play games instead of just sitting around. You can still go swing on the monkey bars if u want my friends is 19 and she still loves the monkey bars...And u can still have picnics it doesn't matter how old u r.
If you would kill yourself over the past thats kinda dump because growing up is a part of life believe me you'll have new and better experiences everyone does. Maybe you should talk to a therapist if u keep thinking about suicide cause of the past

I think it was Shakespeare who wrote "All the world's a stage, and we but players in it", or something to that effect.
Some other famous person wrote " Life is like play that has a once and once only performance, there are no rehearsals, and no repeat performances. You only get one chance to appear in it, and if you get your lines wrong or forget your part, you just have to carry on as best you can until you reach the end!"
(Actually I don't think that anyone famous said that, I think it was me that just made it up).
But regardless of who said what, you are fortunate to have had lots of pleasant experiences that you can remember and enjoy over and over, and you are only 15.
Just imagine how many more great memories you can acquire over the next 50 years or so. Don't spend all your time looking backwards, if you do you'll probably keep walking into lamp posts.
Time enough for looking backwards when looking forwards no longer presents a distant image.
Growing up and growing older aren't matters of choice, they are inevitable and irreversible. Just get yourself prepared for an exciting ride and climb aboard life's roller coaster. Your journey is about to begin. Hang on!

aw sweety! Life moves on I am afraid, there comes a point when it's not all 'ha,ha' and 'he,he' anymore, it's called growing up and it's a bit depressing sometimes. I wish I were 15 again, messing around with my mates in school without a care for tomorrow :(
But you will realise it's not that bad and you're not the odd one, your parents must be very proud of you.x.

Your feeling left out from your family not just missing the past, find something in you to let your parents know, tell them you love them and wish to be with them sharing your life rather than be all the time on your own. Remember most of all that as life goes on so do changes in your life as you get older. One day you are going to have to look after yourself and learning to be on your own now will help later. Your still young now and its good to hear you dont do drugs or are over-reacting with boys, that doesn't stop you from going out and mixing more with your friends or finding a hobby you like to do, if you have no luck with your parents dont think they dont care, they have reminders of the past themselves, talking might help you. It did for me. As for your suicide thoughts then you might not like it, but tell your parents and dont be afraid. Dont ever try taking your own life, its not worth it and help can be got, I went through that and wish i never tried, please see your parents dear.

Sometimes we all wish we could turn back the clock, but time doesn't wait for any of us. Move on. You have no other choice.
