I heard from someone that they heard that, and didn't really believe it, but when she was 16, a cop talked to her and she had a pack of camels visible clearly visible. She didn't get them taken away. Did the cop just miss it (or ignore it), or is it actually to possess cigarettes at this age?

California Penal Code section 308, subdivision (b) provides:
“Every person under the age of 18 years who purchases, receives, or possesses any tobacco, cigarette, or cigarette papers, or any other preparation of tobacco, or any other instrument or paraphernalia that is designed for the smoking of tobacco, products prepared from tobacco, or any controlled substance shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine of seventy-five dollars ($75) or 30 hours of community service work.”

I think its illegal to purchase only under 18, if you have them and a cop wants to be a jerk i am sure he can write you a ticket or something. But there really isnt proof they are yours.

cant legally buy them, why wouldnt it be? I bet if you run your mouth about it to a cop, he'll inforce it.........

not only is it illegal, its inane. it doesnt make you look cool and its deadly.
