Some of the officers** I am familiar with would actually do that!
I'm not sure what the rule would be against it.

Of course they are. A uniform does not remove the humanity of the officer, it merely identifies him readily. It is not inappropriate, although asking out an arrest suspect or someone pulled over is. The code of ethics for cops is fairly uniform throughout the country. Use of the office, (Meaning uniform), to solicit favors or gratuities, (such as dough-nuts believe it or not) is considered a breech of ethics and is frowned upon. The reason most places supply free dough nuts or coffee to a cop is just good business. If any criminal types see a cop frequenting a business, they tend to leave it alone. Cops are bad for crime.

"Gosh! I hope so!" he said winking at the burly cop.

hahahaha

I would have to think there's got to be a regulation somewhere saying they can't do that. If they still wrote you a ticket anyway, wouldn't that put you out of the mood.

I'm thinking promising a "date" would be the same as quid pro quo. No way would this be allowed......pity, huh? lol

My husbands friends have married their traffic stops!!! I would not ask him as he is writing the ticket but if you go to court and he is SINGLE, I see no harm. If he is married, there is nothing worse than being with a married cop!Forget him and find a single guy!

I would advise you to contact them later at the police dept. instead of at the time. Most cops who aren't completely stupid are going to say "I'm flattered, but this isn't appropriate at this time."
Later on at the station, leave your number for them to call you if you really want them to contact you.
