I have many favorites because what for you guys is classic for me was the era I grew up in...but just the other day I was thinking about Steve Millers album Sailor. It's rarely played and nothing like the top 40's stuff the group began turning out later.
Music by Frank Zappa and the Velvet Underground spring to mind too.

I see so many good answers here. Kiss, Sabbath, GnR. . . All the music I grew up rocking to. My personal favorite album at the moment is No Prayer for the Dying, by Iron Maiden. Not an easy choice, though, because of all the other stuff out there.
