...that Disney hasn't released a traditional cel-animated theatrical feature in three (almost four) years? And that their last effort was "Home on the Range"? And what's come straight to video have all been sequels, if memory serves me.

Actually, when The Emperor's New Groove came out (even though I loved that movie) I thought we might be entering into another Disney dark age. With Brother Bear, I thought I might be proven wrong. Do you think we'll see another rebound like we did in 1989 with "The Little Mermaid"? Or is the traditional Disney animated featre gone for good?

Essentially since the success of CGI dominated films, the cel-animated film has been pushed to the back. It seems that for some reason many more CGI films see a good deal back and with the cost and time of animated films is one of the reasons it has at times been dying a slow death. I agree its a real shame because many looked beautiful and had a real sense of history as opposed to many CGI films which just look too clean and new to have any sense of history.

I think there is a good chance that it can make a return but the CGI would have to start seeing steep declines first.

I believe there's a movement now towards traditional cel-animation in the works. One highly advertised film in production is the "Princess and the Frog" (based off of the "Frog Princess" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Princess_and_the_Frog

"Traditional Disney" I think will make a big comeback- one thing that has always seemed to work for Disney is the fairytale genre.

It's very sad. Their traditional movies had such deeper meanings than just cartoons and were so successful! They are making a lot of computer animated comedies now. Although they are pretty good (like Finding Nemo) nothing beats the classics!!! I wish they would make more. I hear they are making a new Princess movie in a year or two about a Frog Princess, and it will be about a black princess.

Yes, it's sad. The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast are the best in my book. They're fantastic. Disney should come up with something to stir us young-at-hearts once again.
l hope they can feature The Frog Prince. Well, it's the only romantic fairy tale that comes to mind right now. That or Rapunzel....or anything that is considered a fairy tale.

try "Cars"

or one of those other late 90's-2000 movies.

its called technology

here's a good example

When Disney made TRON in 1982, it was made through a sub company of theirs. the main company refused to become involved because they felt at the time that hand drawing was the only way foer them to do movies. (TRON was done 100% by computer)

20 years later (sometime not long ago) they got rid of their drawers and went totaly to computers.

how times change.

I think if you want to see "traditional" disney movies,

you might need to watch things made before 1995, like Beauty and the beast.

otherwise grow up
