Why is the U.S. investing crap amounts of money into energy research while blowing massive amounts in on a war which, through pathetic attempts to "democratize" a region, is instead simply securing our non-renewable energy (oil) for maybe the next 10 or so years? Why are we building roads for cars that run on oil that we won't have soon? Don't people realize the oil's actually going to run out? Why is there no discussion of or interest in this huge and obvious problem?
Still, apparently we Americans are just too good to ride our bikes to work anymore in spite of the fact that Americans, who comprise less than 5 percent of the world's population, suck up more than 25 percent of its energy.

Steam? But we need to heat the water, which requires coal. Coal is non-renewable. And biodiesel can hardly provide even a fraction of the energy we're going to require in the next decades. In fact, I'd also like to know why there is such ridiculous propaganda trying to convince the public that biodiesel is going to help anything?

LMFAO. I hate the two-party system.
And how much coal is "a lot" of coal? I doubt even that could last us very long at the rate we're going.

Simply put,our government has been under the control of corporatist elites for quite awhile now.The future does not matter to these people, only the profits they can garner right now.
The sheeple get stuffed full of celebutard drivel while the most radical change civilization has ever faced is steadily coming at us.
It's disgusting to see the vast majority of this country pretending that everything is just peachy keen while we're all circling the drain.

Actually the real truth is that the war over in iraq is all about politic's, in reality our country has enough oil to last us a duration!, the war is over money and political power!, don't be fooled to believe that were gonna run out of oil, wev'e been drilling for oil here in our own country for years and still do. If you ever have the oppertunity take a ride down our coast here in california you will still see oil drilling being done still to this day!. We will never run out of oil as long as the drilling continues here in our own country!,you can't believe in everything you here on the news...

generally as quickly as an engine runs out of oil it loses oil tension. This does all styles of undesirable issues like ruining bearings, scoring cylinders, knocking down cam lobes, etc. you will ought to spend extra beneficial than $250 to restoration/replace the engine to repair the wear.

We continue to build roads, cars and parking lots because our economy is based on oil. When the last barrels of oil is used congress will still appropriate the money to keep doing the same.

Outstanding Question:
Yes, if we get out of Iraq and Afghanistan soon, our total war's price tag would be: r u ready, sit down if u like;
$1 T or $1 Trilion, that has 12 zeroes, like this:
$1,000,000,000,000
What could have been done with all that money.
Best Regards.

The US has enough oil in reserve to last 100 years. That's part of the reason I am so pissed about the price of gas. The western world is paying 1 cent per litre. Funny, HUH? get online and talk to someone in Saudia Arabia. I speak the truth.

Americans are in love with there cars and most have a life style where they need one. The oil isn't going to run out any time soon, it is just going to get more expensive. There are new sources being found under the North Pole and no one knows what riches lie undiscovered in Siberia.
If we run out of oil, or when it becomes too expensive, we will just burn something else. Bio-diesel, hydrogen, grain alcohol, coal even. We will find something to keep our cars running and on the road. The only way that Americans are going to give up their cars is if scientists develop teleportation.
It isn't a sound policy, but it is the truth. The problem is that people are so in love with their cars, and so loath to do anything about a coming crisis, that no one has taken a hard look at what else can be done. When the demand for oil gets to high the demand to keep driving will make sure there is an alternative fuel. Besides Canada is working on pulling oil out of its oil sands and if they can do that it can keep us going for another generation on their supplies alone.
Eventually though it will get to be too much, but if you think about it in the west every man valued his gun and his horse and robbing a man of his horse was a hanging offense. Americans love the idea of personal transport and since our nation and towns are so large we need it. We may not all go to 2-wheeled Segwas, but we will find some way to get around without having to pedal. Who knows maybe the horse will become popular once more.
A good deal of the earth is carbon so there is a lot of coal. Old played out coal mines are actually only half-way gone they still have a lot of coal in them holding up the walls. The recent mine disaster that made the news was about a system called collapse mining where they go in and remove those walls to get ALL the coal out without having to strip mine it. Even if we can’t dig out all the coal we will find some way to shore up the roof and remove it. Pittsburg became the huge steel town because of the supply of coal. It still has tons underneath it; tons that can’t be removed or the city will collapse. But, if we need it that bad someone will find a way.
I hate the two party politics as well sometimes it seems you have a choice between bad and worse, but it is all we have to play with and no creditable third party candidate has come forward since Ross Peroit.
Bio-diesel is not so limited when you think of all the McDonalds that are just pumping it down the drain and will pay to have it hauled off. There is a lot of cooking grease out there. Ethanol is a crock, we need that corn for food (or our milk prices wouldn’t have jumped so much). There are other crops that give more ethanol than corn, but the government is supporting the ethanol program so it seems like a good one. You can start with pulling out the tobacco fields and replacing them with something useable (I know I am going to get a lot of yelling on that one). The desire to get cheap fuel is there, but not the NEED. Until we really, really need it we aren’t going to do much about it; as I said, a stupid policy, but since when has the heard been smart. Hydrogen is not the way to go; it is too dangerous, too hard to make, to hard to store, and creates just as much greenhouse gases as it saves. Our first goal should be to get our power plants off of oil and dirty coal. We know how to clean up the coal and we can use the oil for other things. We wouldn’t have so much nuclear waste if we used breeder reactors to turn it into plutonium and burn that; but it makes the government nervous so they only use 3/4 of the nuclear fuel. We can even use thermocouples to generate electrical power from the heat given off by the nuclear waste, but no one has looked into that. Yet that is how we powered Voyager and all of our other deep space probes.

There is plenty of coal. We'll burn the oil, then we'll burn some biofuels and use coal to make electricity which we will use to charge batteries for electric cars. Then the polar caps will melt and the climates will switch around. Perhaps we'll get runaway greenhouse, who knows.
The two-party parasite loves you. Vote democrat or republican!

This angers me too. I just think that the people who depend on oil the most(i.e. people in the cities) will parish but people who dont depend on oil a whole lot will become knowledgable to this situation and actually start using animal resourses or ride bikes. or just live life before thewre was electricity.
