and torture them before they would be found innocent?

Phillip H does not realize he has been spied upon already. Quite amusing!

Phillip! Wake up! All your internet searches are property of the federal government. The NSA has records not only of the content of your international calls, if you're not completely insular, but also a list of all your domestic contacts. Your library reading material? They can access without your knowledge or consent now. You only THINK you may have any right to privacy. Our government certainly doesn't.

Kelly makes an excellent point. Habeas corpus has been suspended. The federal government does not NEED to present any witnesses against you, grant you access to an attorney, or even inform your family you have been kidnapped and sent to some foreign gulag. Innocent citizens of other countries HAVE been so detained by our government, without any formal charges or proceedings. In addition, US citizens can and have been so detained. You could be declared an enemy combatant, based on nothing more than allegations (or less) and that would be the end of that.

These are the new "unilateral executive" privileges you have seen fit to grant our pro tem monarch. God help you should a democratic president seek to excercise those same powers against you--since as a political dissident, you could be viewed as an "enemy combatant" just as easily as we "libtards" might now.

"It's just a G-D piece of paper." President Bush, concerning our beloved Bill of Rights, November, 2005.

One of my favorites: "We are a nation of laws. Wiretaps require a warrant--nothing has changed." Bush uttered this lie this MONTHS after having already secretly abolished the FISA court.

The most amazing thing about the war on terror is that everyone is guilty until proven innocent.
The torture and rendition issue is completely without a sound rational basis.

In general, yes I care whether this happens to even one U.S. citizen. In practice I am all for it as far as it applies to some of my enemies that are hardcore criminals. There is one person in particular that I would plant the evidence on and probably will when he gets out of prison again. Thanks for the excellent idea!

As the good libtard that I am, I believe Innocent citizens are being tortured every day for no good reason. The other day I saw a Walmart security guard torturing an Al Qaeda operative and I intervened on his behalf. We can't have righteous people torturing our friends.
