In your hand luggage you can bring what you need for the flight plus an amount extra for a reasonable delay, (say about 24 hours more than the travel is expected to be,) if and when you have a medical declaration for the liquids, sharps (needles) and so on.
Put it in its own clear ziplock bag, use the size needed, you are not restricted to the one quart or one liter size for this.
This is besides the liquids allowance everybody is allowed.
If you need food or drink, have your doctor write a declaration for them too.
If you use different amounts, take the maximum you are allowed to take, as the situation will be different from what you would experience at home.

Contact the airport and/or airline before setting out, this is to important to trust someone like me!

The rest of the insulin and all you need, can go into your checked luggage, but pack a copy of the medical declaration with the medicines.
Keep the medication in the original packaging, with the labels and if possible with a sticker from the apothecary, your name and your doctors name on it.

Also bring a presciption with you, with the medical/chemical names of the substances you use, specially if you use a combined preparation normally, so you can get more if something happens.
