If the USA has to threaten their allies to get them on side, does this reflect an american fear that they really don't have friends left in the world?

WW2: Considering the USA was doing a booming trade with Nazi germany, and it was german missionaries & diplomats protected thousands of chinese. Not to mention Stalingrad, the Blitz, the USA only got involved because the Japs forced their hand. Millions of allied citizerns and military fought germany for years before america got involved and the USA bombed Japan because they knew a conventional ground war would decimate american troops. We could go back further and talk about US gunboat diplomacy in Japan!

Criticism is not hatred, in fact its somewhat more healthy than picking up a gun to drive the point home. If I really hated your country I'd be blowing myself up with as many of you as I could get close to, but your own people are more likely to do the job, especially the school kids. I enjoy hearing from humourous americans who don't take it so seriously, but macdick is damned righteous and bigoted. You assume that I am american, you assume that I hate your country, you assume that I belong to one american political party or another. Yet this just shows that it is other americans who you have issues with. You assume that I am male. You assume much grasshopper, but know nothing. (truth be known, as a woman I probably still have more balls than you)

OK, as we can see macdick is on his high horse again, bringing to the table information that is not relevant to the initial question...we can see that for what it is. Is that how you conduct yourself in the real world? Distract from the issue at hand by discussing irrelevant things? Since when does pot smoking have anything to do with this question?
If you wish to discuss global attitudes to marijuana we can start a whole new conversation precious.

macdick, you are a tedious little man, perhaps if you stuck to the topic at hand, rather than strum up some sort of opposition towards me for "smoking too much pot" you might be credible.
Unfortunately its not a crime for you to be a wanker.

well you have raised a good point lets see at the time that we (the u.s.) intervened the Chinese people were being ravaged and raped by the Japanese and we were the only country to come to their aid ( see flying tigers).the Kuwaiti were being brutalized by Saddam's army no one else offered any help .England was being hammered by the Nazis the u.s was instrumental in turning the tide in that war
in fact even before we were forced into the fray our lend lease program was keeping the wolves at bay.so as imperialist as some may say we are the u.s. typically tries to do the right thing and if our leaders or our government sometimes falls short it is not because of the lack of good intentions of our people.furthermore the only reason we are having this conversation at all much less in English and on the Internet is largely due to the effort of great Americans.

Japan and China are pretty good allies, but the rest just use America's wealth and army, but when the crap hits the fan, they refuse to help.
Japan and China have a pretty firm stance of not interfering with foreign wars that don't concern them is why they don't go to Iraq, but when ever the US needs money, labor, or other help, those two are constantly offering to give aid. The others in the UN are pretty shady.

America has jumped in to help every country in this small world. Our closes neighbor Canada ,turned there back on us when we needed them.
When we need help very few came to the call. But then so many Americans are not really Americans. They are so-called because they where born here or are hiding out here.
An American is willing to defend their country, not run and hide. Will hold their head high as they place their hand over their heart and pledge allegiance. Someday America will be no more, thank the coward who ran and didn't fight.<><

I think the English still like us. Maybe wishful thinking.
I just wish the rest of the world knew that not all Americans are pompous, bullying asssholes. Alas, those running the show are indeed hellbent on world domination. I hate them. I vote. I'm doing my best to change it but I can't hold my breath that long.

Not any true friends, no. In the Cold War, America used to invade other countries that they were previously allied with to show them who their friends were. I don't think America had any true friends after 1970 other than maybe Britain (we'll see how long that takes).

The U.S does have friends left but if we keep abusing the power we most likely won't the Polish for example are our allies, along with Japan i believe., England and other countries.

We don't threaten anyone. It's not like we tell people if they aren't on our side we are going to blow up. We have friends whether you like it or not. Britian, Isreal, Canada, and Japan are our allies. France probably will be too once they get attacked. Any moment now.

Of course we do. We visit our friends. Our friends call themselves our allies and still do. We belong to NATO and are still welcome members. We have other organizations that accept us as friends.
Boy, you do like to make clear whose side you are on, don't you?
We believe you.
Oh, goody, will I get another 1 star win again? What a classy way to respond! Misunderstand my answers, call me names, and then give me the award of one star!
Why not actually give it to the person who is right?
Oh, maybe you do?
Sorry, folks. I just get tired of that cheap way of responding to questions from people who hate our country and break our laws (read the rest of his posts).
Which law have you broken? You are smoking too much weed! You stated it yourself, son, when you asked us all how to avoid getting pegged for a drug test and STATED that you smoked pot.
You may have forgotten, but they don't do drug tests for weed in countries where it isn't illegal, and if you get caught doing it, they don't give you any grief over it.
You are really lost.
Folks, like I said, read his other posts. This is getting silly.

Who are we threatening? The Brits and the Aussies are with us at least in spirit. The Canadians are as cowardly as the Spanish so who cares? We can ,if we really wanted to,kick the snot out of any country. But for some reason ,politics always have us hold back which in turn causes us more casualties. They did it in Nam(I was there 1972) and they are doing it now.
Allies? Allies? We don't need no stinking Allies! (Treasure of Sierra Madre)
