Yep! We can't resist forcing our Democratic ways down other countries' throats, all with the best intentions, to improve their lives. Like we are doing such a bang up job here. I don't have a problem with retaliation and protecting our home, but I don't think our government or country is in mortal danger if Iraq can't grasp being a free nation, and thousands of years and traditions have kept them on that path. It's a way of life they have to fight for, otherwise they'll never get it if it's handed to them. I seriously doubt a draft will fly with citizens, simply because we are not in imminent danger of being taken over or destroyed. People aren't as proud as they use to be and not going to go fight in a country that doesn't need our way of governing. When we were fighting early wars it was for protection of family & property. We won't tolerate loss of life, to push our ways in a country that isn't ours.

Why worry about the next war. This one isn't over yet. If bush has his way, we will be in the middle east for a long, long time. Long after he is out of the white house making money like daddy & Clinton. Take notice how many people leaving the administration use the reason of "making more money"? Ridge, Snow, and even bushes plan is to make money. That alone should tell you what these people are all about. Congress included. With our military stretched so thin & our commander in chief extended our military stay in Iraq to 15 months the rate of enlistment will drop. The draft is eminent. Your children & grandchildren will be eligible for service in that war or any other war in the middle east. Make no mistake, it's the oil & the profit to be made from it.. Are you willing to sacrifice your grandchild for oil? Especially since we have the technology to practically eliminate our dependence on it. With the money spent on this war we could have developed many way to have a better form of energy & created many jobs doing it. saved alot of lives doing it. Before anybody says "what about 9/11? .........My answer. What about Bin laden?

Well, it seems it is already here. The US has troops committed in about 20 different places in the world (though only a few seem to make it in the news).
Consider that in Iraq, there are about 150,000 troops, and about 130,000 contract workers (many doing jobs normally done by the military....security, cooking, support services, etc). In past times, the work being done by these contract workers were done by troops in uniform....so its a good guess that there should be 280,000 troops.
Although the Dept of Defense maintains they are OK in terms of troop strengths, I doubt many realists agree with that. If thinks are not stretch thin, well, its just a few microns short of being thin.
Politics and money probably have more to do with the situation than anything else. So calling for a draft will be so unpopular, the politicians would not be able to keep manipulating the system to get more money for their friends via government contracts to support the troops overseas.
Can you imagine what it costs just for something like toilet tissue for all of the troops overseas? That's not a small chunk of change. Recent reports of the missing equipment and non-accountability for expenditures in Iraq are very very disturbing...and they keep calling for more money.
A breaking point has got to be around the corner if not closer.

Quite likely. Bush has traded his booze binges for his war binges.
Many Americans are mad as heck and want to fight even though so many have no clue what's going on or do and are just viscious.
The Arms Lobby is working overtime. We are now to supply the Iraq army that is being built and trained and we get paid in oil.
We also are considering arming the Sunnis and likely the Kurds. Don't know how they will be expected to pay. We have a brand new arms deal with Taiwan (2.2 billion dollars)
Just Look at these sales proposals.

No, I don't think so.. at least I pray that I am right. There is no need for war if some of the idiot so called leaders of the world would just sit down and talk about things, including our own.
It is amazing just how much like children they really are.. and I know.. I teach a kindergarten class.. and my children are better behaved and sometimes a hell of a lot smarter than some of these highly payed and silly leaders.. they should all be ashamed of themselves.

As long as people of USA keep supporting these illegal war mongers who have already waged war on an innocent nation. There is always going to be that chance they Will cause war to hide the inability to serve the public. If you good people of USA do not want the war then demand that Bush and his cronies are tried for war crime by INTERNATIONAL WAR TRIBUNAL so there is little or no chance of this kind of war ever being waged. If the USA had not supported the IRAQIS waging war on IRANIANS then may be we would have never had KUWAIT invaded by IRAQ. So moral is have these people tried for war crimes.

I've been getting that feeling for a while, but it's hard to say whether it's getting more and more likely by the day. I'm kind of confused it hasn't happened yet, I mean, what more political capitol could Bush lose?

I think unless a major cut in the human population happens (I'm talking a plague or something) happens soon, war will be the result for competition for natural resources and even possibly water.

I think Bush would have to do something VERY stupid for that to happen...
and it would basically end the Republican party as we know it in America, as probably about 3 percent of America would tolerate a draft... another party would rise up, but it wouldn't be the same...
