Statistically, Fleury is worthy as the only players with higher Pts/GPs and not in the Hall are Steve Larmer, Adam Oates, and Bernie Nicholls. He has a greater Pts/GPs than Dino Ciccarelli, Luc Robitaille, and Glenn Anderson. He has a ring. He played in several all-star games. He represented his country. he accomplished all this while being 'too small' for the NHL

But, he has well-publicized off-ice troubles. In my day, several players were Fleury types (Don't ask, I'm not telling) but the internet didn't exist to put that information in front of your nose 20 seconds after it happened. Newspaper reporters while unashamed about anything, were far more careful about what they wrote about celebrities than people are today. A player with a lack of morals was more likely to be guarded by his teammates and management in the 60s and 70s then they are today.

I think that Fleury looks in at the Hall until such time that the Veterans Committee puts him on the ballot.

Back in the day any number of NHL greats were big drinkers. Lafluer would be out on St. Catherine's street till 03:00 and then score a hat trick the next day, Phil Esposito's teammates once brought him in his hospital bed to a bar when he was injured, etc. etc. I'm not defending alcohol abuse, just that in the context of the NHL is shouldn't keep someone out of the hall of fame when it was excused for most of the league's history.

I think his off the ice troubles are the only hurdle that could keep him out. As a player, I think he is worthy of inclusion, but the voters may not be able to look past them. But, society has loosened up a bit so you never know....

His numbers are borderline. There are players in, that have worse numbers, and players out that have better numbers. IMO, his behavior keeps him out, writers will justify it by the fact there are people with better numbers who are not in.

He will probably be considered, but it will take him a couple of tries to get in IMO.

I'm not sure. Didn't he shoot a puck at a ref when he was playing in England?
