Right after I got married, I was working in one of those big chain drugstores. A couple asked me where to find something, so I showed them where it was, and they kept asking for more help. I was basically a personal shopper for them for a while. Finally, with a sly grin, they asked me if I had any idea who they were. I knew then that I was supposed to know them, but had no idea that they were my wife's favorite aunt and uncle. She comes from a very large family.
Have you ever had anything like that happen to you?

yes. my mom's family- 9 kids, my dad's 4- our family 7 kids. we have a million different relatives, half of whom i don't know. my parents relocated before i was born, and i never grew up around them. one day while shopping, i noticed this woman following me around & had no idea why. after about an hour, i was starting to get concerned & asked if i could help her with something. she said no & then told me i looked a lot like her mother when she was younger. after 10 minutes of chit-chat, we discovered that her mom was my aunt & she was my cousin. it was so strange!!!! :)

ALL THE TIME!!!! my parents divorced when I was very young and my mother raised me but...after I married my husband started working with my Dad in the family business. My husband met and became very acquainted with cousins and uncles and aunts that I had never even met from my Dads side of the family! We will be out and he says "Elizabeth this is your cousin Jamie" and I am like "HI now who is your dad" LOL it's crazy
once he invited a cousin of mine over to our house and he brought his wife! But the whole time they were there I was wondering which one was my family and which one was married into my family and this was a first cousin! I really didn't know!

Yes, plenty of times. Everytime I go to visit the "extended" family, I have to ask quietly who they are. I don't know how they fit in the family or what their relation is to me, and really I don't care. They're mostly losers anyway.

Yeah it's funny though....but at first you feel all dumb. I've had it happen several times. Funniest time was when my grandma asked if I was gonna invite this one lady to my wedding and I was like who is that and she was like it's your great aunt lol

That hasn't happened to me but my mother never recognizes anyone-she has even walked past me sometimes when she is coming to meet me-other times she might see me with one of my friends who she has met dozens of times and will look at them as if she never met them-i told her she has facial amnesia
