Many people say that the pool at the Hard Rock is the best pool in Vegas -- of course, that's totally subjective, but it's nice to know! If you're into the whole Vegas "scene," I think you'll enjoy the pool area, anyway.
In addition to that, the Hard Rock seems to be a very fun place to stay with excellent dining options and a fairly wild nightlife. It's definitely a music-oriented hotel, and you'll constantly be reminded of that (by the way, have you checked to see if anyone cool is playing while you're there?)
I'm not sure if you've checked IgoUgo.com yet, but they have some pretty in-depth reviews on the rooms/pool/entertainment at the Hard Rock that should definitely get you pysched up for going; you can find them here: http://www.igougo.com/lodging-reviews-b169817-Las_Vegas-Hard_Rock_Hotel_And_Casino.html
And of course there's the hotel website as well, which is here: http://www.hardrockhotel.com
Hope this helps a little -- have a great trip (you've made an excellent choice!)

Depends on a lot of factors. It is a younger crowd and not real large. Off the beaten path so you can not walk to the strip without getting tired before you get there. The Palms is larger and has a similar crowd so it is getting more of the Hard Rocks customers. Since you already booked the room just make sure you have a way to get around. Not the best area to walk around. Still is a nice place to stay if that is your style. Check out their shuttle to the strip.
