lintels are all the same gages.

most steel lintels are the same gauge ..but you can buy heavy duty steel lintels ..but you would have to order it specially ..the easiest way to tell a heavy duty one is to weigh it and compare against a standard one ..take a set of scales with you !..to be totally sure ring up a firm like CATNIC or BIRTLEY they could give you the code numbers on the back of lintels....remember you need a bearing of 150mm each side

A good rule of thumb when checking to see if the metal being used is a heavy gauge of metal would be to look for the manufactures marks and check the gauge numbers at your local hardware store, to make sure the metal is as heavy a gauge as you desire.

Most steel lintels can be lifted by one or two persons.
I fitted a RSJ 2.2 meters 175mm x 100mm and its easy for two persons to lift above there heads.
