For the Americans, a car boot sale is similar to a garage sale, people put items they no longer want in the boot of their car, take it to an area where they are holding a 'boot sale', pay for the privilege of parking and then sell the unwanted items. One person's unwanted items could be sought after by someone else. I have been when they first became popular in my area, but I haven't been for a long while.

Thats like a flea market in America. (Car boot is the british version, I think).
Rarely, but when I have I've bought books and cute trinkets.

Certainly do. I'm always on the lookout for board games, DVD's, books etc. I don't buy clothes though. I enjoy the laid back atmosphere, but I always wonder about the stallholders propensity to gorge themselves on cheese and ham sandwiches at 8 am!!!!!
