I have a new computer with Asus P5KSE motherboard, Core2Duo E6600 processor and 2 SATA drives. When I try to install vista home basic 32 I see both drives and I create a primary partition on each drive. When I select next it tells me that there are the install program cannot find a suitable drive to install windows on.

I have tried to format and that doesn't seem to make a difference. The formatting doesn't show a progress bar. Should it?

Do I need to install drivers for the SATA drives to be recognized by vista? The BIOS sees both drives. But the boot priority only sees one. What's with that?

Any help here is appreciated.
Thanks

Firstly, I gave devlin a "thumbs up" for advising you to trash Vista....I'll stick to the topic & leave it at that.

There are numerous variables involved here, however, at the very top of the problem solving flowchart is the fact that your BIOS only recognizes one of the two drives as a suitable boot device. This is a red light all in itself.

Try disconnecting the drive that is not offered as a boot option, & see if Vista then installs .... my guess is that it will.

Apparently your computers very smart and doesn't want Vista (Microsofts worst idea in years) on it.

Either install any version of XP or give Linux a shot its free and very flexible.
