I have a USB keyboard and a PS/2 keyboard, and my computer doesnt respond to either. I've tried plugging in the USB into two different ports. When I restart my computer, the keyboard lights up, but as soon as Windows starts, my keyboard goes dead and doesn't respond at all. It does this with both keyboards. I cannot get into windows, and am stuck at the password screen because I can't type my password. HELP!!

Restart your computer. That's what I had to do one time. If that doesn't work. Turn it off, and then unplug your keyboard and replug it in. Then, turn your computer back on.

maybe try booting up without a keyboard hooked up...then when u get to the pw screen...plug in a USB keyboard cuz the plug n play should read and ive had luck doing that before when i had a similar problem. did you try the keyboards on other computers just to make sure they both work on a good computer. sometimes computers are weird...maybe try unplugging power cord from back of tower and waiting...sometimes that works out of the blue. good luck

Upon start up, if your stuck at the password screen, then your mouse driver in your system file did not load. Reboot computer and press Del or F2 to go into cmos to find out if your mouse and keyboard is enabled. If not enable it then. if this does not work, use your tab key to put you into the password block. If this does not work hit F8 and go into safe mode to see if the mouse loads in safe mode. Other than that your main board is not registering mouse or keyboard.

1.) make sure the keyboard isnt plugged in where the mouse is supposed to go to.
2.)go to the website of your computers manufacture (example. www.hp.com), search for you computer model, and download the drivers.
3.)if all else fails, re-install your operating system, (NOTE. this will delete all your data)

the problem obviously doesnt have to do with your keyboards. maybe some programs in your computer have virus. try re-formating your computer (command prompt/msdos). but there are risks involved in reformating. your files will be deleted. if you have doubts, you can always bring your computer to a repair shop and have the experts look at it first.
