It makes me so sad... I grew up in a family that looked like the UN when we had gatherings... We each celebrated our individual cultures and came together as a united family...The hyphen is to indicate self-respect in a culture which wishes to obliterate diversity...

I agree whole heatedly. The original premise was that the USA was to be a "melting pot" of cultures.

However, all of the English, Italian, Irish, German, etc. immigrants that were the original backbone of this country had to learn to speak the common language; so why do I need to press "1" for English when I am calling my credit card company in 2007??

I do not agree that we all need to speak Spanish eventually to appease the new immigrants.

i'm anti-diversity because if everyone is different, everyone will have a different opinion on everything. if no one can see eye-to-eye, then this country will fall. the saying "united we stand, divided we fall" is a great saying that proves my point.
