While ultrasounds are usually really accurate, there's always the possibility that they were wrong, so it's a confirmation. Also, the doctor delivering your baby is usually the doctor on call, and not always the doctor you've been seeing. Therefore, the doctor may not know if you know whether it's a boy or girl, and therefore announce it when the baby is born.

They still tell you for a few reasons. I knew my daughter was a girl when I was 7 months pregnant. I can't remember my doctor's exact words but she did say something like here's your beautiful girl. Also, with all the excitement, it's good to hear it again. Your doctor might be delivering baby's all day and might not remember on the spot if you knew ahead of time or not, and it lets all the family/staff in the room know too right away. It's the most wonderful moment in my life and I don't mind if someone said it 20 times that "It's a girl!" because I was so happy to finally see my baby. I can't wait for my next one - 9 weeks pregnant.

i became 5 days over-due with my first toddler. The midwife informed me some powder which you would be able to get in a chemist's. regrettably, i can not keep in mind the call of it. in case you ask, i'm particular they are going to recognize. they only dispense it to women who're late and that they only provide you 3 doses. I took 2 and went into labour myself the subsequent day. stable success.

I'm sure they do. It's probably for confirmation because the ultrasound readings can give false results sometimes.

Yeah, cause they're really never 100% sure.
Believe me, I was supposed to be a boy, & I guess it's safe to say that isn't true. LOL.
