You can go to the county courthouse and get forms - and they'll explain it to you (you have to file them with the courthouse anyway ... ). What is the clerks office not authorized to do? Answer questions? What are your questions? What "reason"? Irreconcilable differences!

I got an uncontested divorce in Georgia, no kids. I *did* have a lawyer fill out and file the paperwork, was only about 500 hundred bucks. Just find one who will do it for you on the cheap, they're out there. Here's one for six hundred:

This site explains how to fill out the forms if filing yourself - it's pretty cut and dry:

I asssume that you are in the US.

My courthouse has a help center that will help you with your forms.

This web site will help you with issues in California:

I help my step son in a divorce. Believe me it really worked. it was about 3 months from start to finish. and we went through LEGAL ZOOM! on the computer. I believe it was like $350. I believe it went through the courts because both parties agreed to everything. You still have to show up and make court dates. but they run you through. And believe it or not there were kids involved.
