All of the top Republican candidates have decided to skip the Tavis Smiley-organized debate at the historically black Morgan State University, and all the major candidates other than John McCain declined to participate in the Univision Spanish-language debate, have republicans now at the point where they DON'T EVEN PRETEND to care about minorities anymore.

"For Republicans to consistently refuse to engage in front of an African American or Latino audience is an enormous error," said former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who has not yet ruled out a White House run himself. "I hope they will reverse their decision. ... It's just fundamentally wrong. Any of them who gives you that scheduling conflict answer are disingenuous. That's baloney."

President Bush did address the NAACP a year or two ago and didn't meet with a good reception. I think there are a lot more black republicans than they realize, though. Its probably much the same reason that the democrats don't want to debate on Fox. Fox has repeatedly insulted individual democrats. One example of that would be when Pelosi made her trip to the Middle East. Why put yourself in a bad light before you even get the chance to open your mouth.

Republicans have for the last few decades been the party of WASPs. The civil rights movement drew sharp lines along parties. It's no coincidence most minorities vote overwhelmingly Democrat, the Republican party is not the party of change or opportunity - it is the party of the rich staying rich, the powerful staying in power, and privileged keeping their position in the societal structure.

Why in the hell can't we all just be Americans? I don't give a flying damn what color someone is. We are all in this together and we all have been treated like crap because of our color. (Whites too, and don't you DARE try to argue with me on that one. I'd like to see you argue with my FACE on that one.)

Republicans are TRYING to put everybody on equal footing, and they're being fought at every turn by liberals who divide and point out the differences between the races by creating programs like affirmative action and groups like the NAACP, which do nothing but preach hate.

You'd have to be blind, deaf and ignorant not to be able to figure that out.

Chicken! Further proves they have a WASP only club!

tenthamend (what a name when you compare the answer) So let me get this right, them voting for the Republicans is black voter's voting objectively? I think they already are voting objectively, and that is why you don't get their vote.

Most white voters don't have a clue, but being objective is not a prerequisite outlined in the US Constitution in order to vote! Just look at those who vote Republican! They should be in-patient at a acute psychiatric facility!

We had Camelot with JFK and now we have The Adventures of Pinocchio!

When black people show that they can vote objectively - that is not vote 90% or more for democrats every time, then maybe the democrats will stop taking advantage of them by race baiting for their votes - votes so easily bought that way. Then maybe democrats will stop blocking school voucher programs that would provide real choice and improvement for minorities.
