Or are they under the "don't ask, don't tell" rule much like what they required in the military? Some of our elected officials were clossetted homosexuals prior to being elected, then declare their true orientation after much to dismay of many of their constituents. Shouldn't our presidential candidates declare now their sexual orientation so that there would be no suprises after election? I can see it now " The president declares he or she is gay"

I'd be more interested to know what their "commercial and funding" preferences were!

Cheers :-)

I'm old school. Before the don't ask, don't tell" rule got all the press. Once upon a time, good people of all persuasions would tell the ***** reporter "That's none of your business. You are out of line." and been supported by all Americans for doing so. It was "politically incorrect" long before the term made the media to mention it or be asked. IMO, it still is.
Homosexuals are entitled to civil rights. They are not a valid political minority. "Gay" has a whole different meaning when used correctly.

Let's get back to supporting candidates for their political capabilities and not the "politically incorrect" GIGO that makes most of the headlines today.

They can declare if they want to. It's up to them. We have gotten so accustomed to the celebrity gossip rags, "reality" TV shows, and tabloids, that many of us have lost sight of what is truly required of our government officials. Sure, we can like an actor or actress or singer or athlete according to whether we like their style when they are out on the red carpet, whether we like the accent of their voice, whether we agree with their sexual orientation, whether they have the same likes and dislikes that we do, but using the same fluff standards for choosing our government officers would be ridiculous. Politicians are not in the entertainment industry. They have to be measured according to the requirements of the job that they seek to be elected to. Even if one's religious convictions guide a person to believe that homosexuality is sinful, should we have politicians confess all of their sins during the campaign? After all, homosexuality is just one sin. There are zillions of other sins. So let's not just stop at declaring one sin during the campaign, let's declare all of our sins during the campaign. Better yet, let's just elect people to office who have committed no sins at all. Who'd be qualified if that were the case?

Why do that? Is there one you are particularly interested in? Maybe Priests, Ministers, Doctors, old guys in chairs, should do the same thing.

No, but they should be held to the promises that they made to get into office, also there should be a law that for every dollar spent in another country the same amount should be spent first in this country, if they say we can not afford it then nobody gets any money.

I don't care what a candidate does in the privacy of their own home...I only have issue with it when they break the law by trolling for prostitutes to relieve their sexual needs...not because I care if they are gay or straight, because I care that they are breaking the law.

No, why should they? As long as they are good honest folk and have the countries best interests at heart.. it should not matter.

Bush is straight.. and he can't run a damn thing.. so there you go!

No, people need to mind their own business. I'm sick of this depraved pathetic world that we know live in where the media's so occupied with the sex lives of celebrities and politicians! Talk about the dumbing down of America!

It was shocking that Hilary Clinton actually had to make a public statement denying that she was a lesbian, but that is the level of Stalinist discourse the Dems/Move On crowd are leading us into.

Who cares? Their sexual orientation is nobody's business except theirs. Ask not what your politician does in their bedroom, ask what they do on the floor. (The Congressional Floor -- get it? :)
