I just remember N*Sync and Britney Spears were really big that year. And I was in middle school so you can imagine how insane I was driven by my classmates...

Being an older person, I can remember that, back in the mid-'40s, they promised that by 1960 all cities would have a glass dome over them, so people could move about with getting wet or cold all year around. There would be "flying cars" and trains going through tubes connecting different parts of the city, going from gound level to the top of tall buildings. Also, those cars did not need a driver; they would go on their own!

Back in highschool, when I was 16, in....1981....I remember thinking "Oh, man, I'm going to be 35 in 2000! That's OLD!" I wanted to be an astronaut. I thought we'd all be astronauts, by now. Sadly, that didn't happen. Then again, I thought we'd be nuked into the dark ages by now. :) Luckily that hasn't happened...yet!

But yeah, where's my hovercar? Although I do drive a Saturn. So, space-ish, I guess.

Along with the first part of your Q:

Why are so many roads so poorly lit? In THIS day and age!

Next time you're out driving at night where it isn't
what I've been known to call Real Cities or,
civilization, think about just how better lit
and paved this country should be. Etcetera.

No, I love the older model muscle cars best , when a chevy
looked like a chevy and so forth. These days a lot of the cars
look alike and look cheap or boring. I loved vets best.
I am still waiting for the promised house cleans itself news that was supposed to be in place. Homes were supposed to
wash, dry and clean itself.

I wasn't surprised. As nuts as people are on the highways now, can you imagine what they'd be like if they were driving hovering space cars?

I'm more disappointed that we don't have moving sidewalks. The cars would be cool too but think of the traffic tie ups when you're flying.
