I'd rather "go bananas", which in Oz means "going crook" or "up the wall" or berserk, or demonstrably angry. I can handle that - and so quietly others don't know I'm about to bite them on the ankle. But in Oz, "going nuts" means going mad, as well as angry, and I cling to my brain as a life-jacket. When I was small had an Uncle I adored who would take me regularly for a walk beside an insane asylum and, when I asked what it was, told me it was a "nut factory". For a couple of years I was sure that was where peanuts etc came from. That's "nuts" of course, rather than "bananas".

And I agree with Shah... above which was going to be my response but not so cleverly put: Going nuts sounds more like 'losing your marbles' or going a bit crazy whereas going bananas is more like just having a bit of harmless fun.

I love Nuts and bananas, in a banana Split, with plenty of whipping cream on it. or simply a banana with peanut Butter on it.

Hi~It's only after 9p, & I've already been snacking on cold Dolma! I should prefer bananas since I'm an Earth Monkey, but I'd really rather have nuts toasted in olive oil (pecans, walnuts, pine nuts, hazelnuts, almonds...) with garlic & cayenne pepper & sea salt. What do you think? Waaa--there aren't any nuts in the house but me! :):)

i've gone NUTS many times before.....and I'm trying to refrain from it.

Since I've been going nuts for quite awhile I think bananas would be fun, as long as someone brings along the hot fudge, whipped cream, and at least three cherries. =^))))))
