I mean, I cant say its BAD because I think the competition is great with the mclaren/ferrari thing goin on.

But what i despise about this season is that its really showing that its all the cars performance that makes the driver 'good' or 'bad'.

Just see for yourself, all the way down to like 14th in the championship teamates are back to back. its really unfortunate how it has to be this way, all the car and litttle skill of the driver. I love formula 1 dont get me wrong but i wouldnt even be watching the rest of the season if it wasnt for the mclaren/ferrari rivalry. I have to say I enjoyed Schumachers domination in 2002/2004 more than this season.

and i know the past years have depended on the car too for the most part. but it seemed like there were also WAY more driver skill involved. Especally in the 2003 season which is my fave season to date.

and i ask myself time and time again, would Lewis be leading the championship if he wasnt in a Mclaren? OF COURSE NOT!

he is only leading cause he is with the best team on the grid (or so it seems). Yes u can say he is better than alonso cause they both have the same car. but put him in a freakin Williams or somthin and see wat he does. He would probably be like at the highest 5th if that in the championship.

I think its really dumb how a rookie is leading too.. can t lewis and fernando just die and let a ferrari take another championship.

A tad.. I miss Schumacher's drama. A few of my favorite drivers have left, so it sucks not seeing them on the track.

1. it's not just the cars which make the drivers better. if you're a stupid driver driving a mclaren, would you even be in the top 10? remember button when he blew his rookie season with williams-bmw. during that season, ralf schumacher won a grand prix while button either did not finish or was in the tail of the order.
2. drivers have their own engineers, meaning they talk to them about how their car will work. schumacher's greatness did not only show his skills on-track but also his skills off the road. did you ever wonder why michael most of the time edged out rubens when they were teammates? well, it's not only because of his skill, but his knowledge of f1 cars.
3. imagine this: a driver from the spyker-aguri driving a mclaren mercedes this season. do you think he will lead the driver's championship like lewis is right now? im not saying lewis is great, but he is good. why didn't barrichello lead ferrari over schumacher? because schumi was better. so i can conclude that lewis is could be better than our 2-time champ, fernando

Well, when you see a one, two finish for Mclaren one week and a one, two finish for Ferrari the next week, you know its the car and not just driver skill. The Mclaren's due better on some tracks and the Ferrari's are suited better on other tracks. Put one of the BMW drivers, Heidfeld or Kubica in that Mclaren and he will be consistently on podium too. And if you put Hamilton in a BMW, he would be always fourth.

I quite agree with you.
I have read statements by past F1 drivers to the effect that F1 cars these days are relatively easy to drive. A lot of this is down to the computerised aids. Just look at the way rookies in a good state of the art car can score points first time out.
Sebastian Vettel did so in a BMW.
To take your point further he isn't doing so well with a less sophisticated Toro Rosso which backs up what you say about two by two.
Hamilton is matching Alonso but would he is a less computer and driver aid assisted car ? I don't think he would.
Strictly speaking he has an advantage over Alonso as apparently he has spent many hours in McLaren's race simulator ! I think that says it all about the current F1.

sound to me you would be better of watching A1 where all the cars are the same. this season has been a lot more exciting that just watching a blur of red disappear into the sunset. and as for Lewis, well, you still have to be able to handle the machinery underneath you to be able to drive it well. if he wasn't such a good driver I'm sure he would have been spending a lot more time in the kitty litter
