I have been taking premarin for a week now and have been bleeding ever since. I did call the doctor and had help with a lab tech and they told me as long as its not soaking through a night pad every hour I should be fine. But I could never get an answer as to why I would be bleeding while taking this or is it normal? Help..

If your doctor gave you the premarin to start a cycle, it is likely because you haven't had one in a while? If you think about it in terms of the uteran lining has been collecting for the entire time you haven't had a period, or even abnormal or light periods, the unusual amount of blood isn't that frightening.

If you continue to bleed for more than a week or get ill feeling due to the loss of blood, see your doc. Otherwise, you should be just fine.

The dr's gave me premarin to take for one week to get my cycle on track, since i was having break through bleeding every week. It made me back to normal. I had super tender breasts but not bleeding, but the dr's know what they are talking about, you're just fine. It is a hormone, so I don't see why you shouldn't be bleeding

That's why I don't want to use hormone replacement therapy. I am of menopause age although I haven't gone through it yet. If you take hormones, you continue to have periods. I just want mine to stop. I will not miss having them.
