The "Garden Court Buffet" at Main Street Station is not only the best downtown it's the best value buffet in all of Las Vegas for lunch & dinner.
MSS - "Garden Court Buffet" - rated 8.3
Lunch - $7.89
Dinner - $10.99
Rio - "Carnival World Buffet" - rated 7.7
Lunch - $16.99
Dinner - $23.99
Sorry, the buffet at MSS is nothing like the one at Rio, it's much better at less than half the price.
The Carnival World buffet is no longer the buffet it was 10-15 years ago, when it was the best in LV.
The other great play for a downtown buffet is the Fremont Seafood Buffet on Sunday/Tuesday/Friday - $15.99 - The Rio Seafood Buffet is slightly better - $36.99 - The Fremont is a much better deal.
IMO the best deal dowtown for breakfast is at the California's "Market Street Cafe" - They have "graveyard specials" from 11pm-7am - 9am for the $3.99 steak special
Be sure and try the .99c shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate - This one is a Las Vegas legend -

The Fremont Street Experience has a sheet of coupons - Go to the FSE office - 425 Fremont Street, It's located on the 2nd floor of the parking garage next to Walgreens. Show an out of state ID, get one for each of you. Coupons include.

personally i didn't like Main Street Station buffet at all, despite all the great reviews it gets. I ended up eating oranges it was that poor.
The best downtown buffet for me is the Golden Nugget buffet.
There is nothing like the rio downtown in terms of choice (rio's choice is unmatched in the whole of vegas), but the Golden nugget is every bit as good in terms of quality.

Main Street Buffet it's been voted best in las vegas and also the Texas Station Buffet, they got a huge variety of food there, that's my favorite one of them all...

Fitzgeralds downtown is very good I go there quite a bit
Freemonts buffet is good also

Well, I went to this buffet at Red Rock(a little bit out of the Strip) and EVERYTHING was delicious! I ate at "Cravings" at the Mirage and it was just great! The food was great and well-cooked.
