It's a piece of stretchy cloth that you wear with your regular sized pants and keeps your clothes up while you can wear them unbuttoned or unzipped. I don't have much money for maternity wear and I have to figure out another solution...

Belly Belt, or another one is like a boob-tube top but you wear them around your middle/hips to hide the top of your pants.

I got my mum to make me a belly belt. All you need to 1 x 30cm piece of inch thick elastic.
On one end sew on 3-4 buttons interspaced and on the other end make 3-4 button holes interspaced. Get a few pieces of cloth about 15cm/15cm in black, white, navy (whatever suits the pants you wear) and make an open hem by folding over the top 5cm and sewing along to make a slot to slide the elastic through. Then you have a piece of fabric with removable elastic you can attach to any jeans or pants with a button. The piece of fabric that hangs down gets tucked into the pants to hide the opening (from leaving the zipper down) and your maternity tops hang down over it and no-one will be the wiser. It'll cost you a couple of dollars and most people have old scraps of fabric or even an old top or pants you never wear to cut up.

Try ebay for maternity wear or thrift / 2nd hand stores as well. Ask around through friends if anyone has maternity clothes they no longer need, there's never any harm in asking!

Best of luck

I think they're called Belly Banz. You could probably make one with a regular t shirt. Cut the bottom part out and make sure it's tight enough to go over you pants without falling down. The layer look is in so that would look good with another shirt over it maybe. I found alot on oldnavy.com too when I was pregnant.

i'm not sure what the item is you are looking for, i have never heard of such a thing. a trick that will help with the button part is using a ponytail band and running it through the buttonhole and looping each end around the button. it worked for me. it gave me a little extra room.

Try checking your local Craigslist or Freecycle for women donating their used maternity clothing. I'm always seeing free & very inexpensive clothing on those sites.
