My elderly father doesn't clean as often as he should because it's hard for him to move around - so I decided to clean his bathroom for him.

Let me tell ya - comet w bleach, heavy duty scouring pads and lots of elbow grease aren't cutting it. (I scrubbed for half an hour)

Any advice? we have real hard water and my father uses regular bar soap....someone told me vinegar, but I cant get it to stay on the sides of the tub (under the soap dish) where it needs the most help....

Suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have been using natural cleaners, and I love them. They have a Tub & Tile cleaner that works better than anything I have ever used. Really takes off all the hard water deposits, just spray it on and let it set for a couple of minutes, then wipe it. They also have what they call No Work, that you can spray on the tub or shower after you get done bathing, keeps all that yuck from building up. That would be easy for your dad to do, so you would not have to clean it so often. No harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia to breath, so much healthier, economical, and enviornmentally friendly.

Fill the tub with really, really hot water and pour in about 3 cups of bleach... Let the water cool drain and rinse... The soap scum will be soft enough to wipe with a nylon scrub pad... Then once it's clean use Rain-X or wax the inside of the tub with car wax... It'll be safe don't worry and the future soap will just slide right off !!!! You can also spray the tub/tile surround with 50/50 bleach/water and let that sit.. Wipe down with a damp cloth.. Should be good as new... good luck

I'm 65 and can't get down to clean the tub and tile like I used to. I bought a spray bottle of Lysol soap scrum remover. I was sooooo surprised. It works great. I do have to keep the door closed because the smell is strong. Spray and wait about an hour and just lightly scrub with a brush and it comes off easy. They also sell a bottle of Mildew remover and that works great too.

I went to Dollar General recently & bought the Comet cleaner in a white spray bottle that is made especially for "removing soap scum". It says so on the bottle. You spray it on, let it set a few minutes, then rinse it off. Dry with paper towel.

Try Tilex Soap Scum Remover.
This has always worked for me. Spray down the tub and let sit a couple minutes - the soap scum wipes off easily when rinsing it off.

Kaboom shower & tile cleaner. Works great, just have a window open or fan on.
