This was something that was offered to us as younger people but would you consider doing it now?
There are many cultures I find interesting...I suppose now I would choose Iceland. They have an interesting folklore I'd like to study and I'd like to learn their system of rune reading.

Sure. It sounds like it could be fun.
I would want to learn about the Eskimos up here in northern Canada. I have always been fascinated by them, and think it is a big shame that they are losing their culture in the effort to "fit in" with the rest of the country. They are a unique people and need to be proud of themselves and their heritage. (Only I draw the line at delicacies like seal fin pie.)

You are brave. I would probably not choose Iceland, Siberia, or Alaska.Too cold. However I am reading an interesting book about Newfoundland, so there you go. I love the sea, and do believe that Australia would be interesting as well.

I would love too!!! My dad was a filipino from sibutu in the south, and I know nothing about his people and culture so a year amongst them would be wonderful. The only problem is that they are muslim and there is a terrorist campaign going on there for a separate muslim state so it is a bit iffy over there.

For one year.... no. Maybe for a few months though. It would be difficult for me to leave my home, my family and my dog. Let alone my comfort zone.
My son and his wife took a job in Taiwan for 6 months to teach kindergarten aged children English. They were newly married and just out of college. They really loved it. They learned so much and had so many experiences.

Yes, since much of my family is from England I'd love to go there. I recently learned my grandmother's maiden name is Dutch, so that would be good too. I'd also like to go to one of the Spanish speaking countries and learn the language, heritage, and customs.

I would love to live in Italy for a year. I love to cook, and I love their food, so I would be in heaven if I could spend some time there, and truly experience their culture. Everything about Italy seems beautiful to me!

I'd LOVE that.
I dated a man from Iceland, nice man. I have a rather unusual personality (I'm pretty "honest") and he said of me, "We have a whole country of women like you." COOL, I'm a bit of an oddity here. I speak my mind and I'm not inhibited.
There are lots of other countries I'd like to visit though. Love sociology.
Peace.

Lived in Korea for a year and want another experience soon before I turn thirty. Except through my free will and not through the armed services.

Well, ok everybody, let's leave it behind for a year and go.
After putting the destinations in a hat we'll draw and go but if majority rules it'll be Iceland.
Dreaming is a good thing because."we're not dead yet."
