Hi everybody.
I have ruined a number of very expensive bras, panties, and shirts in the washer and dryer. How would you recommend washing lacey bra's and underwear? I'm not even sure if I should dry them or let them air dry?

Thank you very much.

Never wash delicate bras and panties or shirts in a washer and even worse, don't use a dryer. They should be washed by hand and air dried. This is always in the label, but sometimes isn't easy to see. I have been told NOT to use Woolite, even though it is marketed for this purpose. Use a mild clothes detergent, barely warm water and rinse well. Roll the items in a large towel to take out some of the water and lay flat to dry. I lay these items on top of the dryer while drying other clothes. It is a nice warm place.

I worked at Victoria's Secret for years and we told everyone to hand wash their delicates. It's a pain in the butt, however it's totally worth it. I use my bathtub to wash my bras. I fill up the tub with enough water, depending on the size of the "load" and throw in some detergent. I just swish the water around by hand and make sure to scrub out the deodorant. I guess I'm just used to it now, but that's the only way I trust my delicates to be cleaned properly. I spend way too much money on that stuff to have it ruined by a washing machine.

If you have gotten bra's at VS's and the underwire pops out due to the washing machine, simply tell them that you really did handwash them and you think you were sized wrong. They'll fit you and give you a new bra. But try really handwashing after that.

This type of clothing is not made to wash in the washer and dryer. Fill your bathroom sink with warm water and a mild soap, like Woolite. Let them soak for about a half hour, rinse and hang over your towel bar with a clean towel under them.

So many nice pairs of bra's and panties are ruined through out the world every day because of being careless or not cautious of the instructions on them. Please see the instructions on your bra and under wear before you do anything to them. If there is no instruction at all, please wash them with a mild detergent with normal room temperature water by your careful hands. Please do not rub the sides each other, because it will make the lace look in bad shape and some lace will form bubbles depending on the material. Then soak them by waving in the air lightly. Put them again in a water tub at room temperature. Stir it for few minutes by your hands. repeat it until you are satisfied, that it is not having any trace of detergent or chemical. Then rinse the water by waving it in the air. Keep them hanging on a line in shades. Please make sure it is not close to any heating apparatus or sun light. After this treatment you will find your bra's are as comfortable as when you bought them from the stores. Please try this.

I use a delecates mess bag (Wal-mart) by the laundry baskets. And I have personally gone ORGANIC with my laundry soap. Which SOUNDS expensive but it’s not. I got a dry soap powder for like $10 (80 loads) from www.SANDYCREEKSOAP.etsy.com and can I tell you IT’S AWESOME!!!! You barely need a teaspoon for a FULL load! And it’s works on whites, colors, STAINS... and it’s BABY SAFE! I just bought some for a friends baby shower, and they LOVE it! You can but different scents like lavender, lemon, etc. They also include directions on how to use the soap for a basic cleaning solution. I put it in a spray bottle and clean my WHOLE house with it!!! It’s great, just thought I would share this too (which is WHY I switched from store bought detergent to ORGANIC)....

I was diagnosed with rosaceae (red splotches) and suffered with it for years - under a Dr’s care...
I was told SOAPS (or what was in them rather) was creating my skin problems. I suffered with it for years until I took heed and listened. I bought their facial tea tree oil soap and their laundry detergent... and can I tell you - My life has changed!

What you need is HANDMADE or hand-milled soap made the old fashion way. Their soaps have GLYCERIN in them (a natural moisture retainer). In STORE bought soap glycerin is sold for profit and replaced with a chemical called sodium lauryl sulfate to add lather which is listed in the encyclopedia as a skin IRRITANT. I know, I couldn’t believe it either, but look it up! This chemical is found in 98% of ALL STORE bought soaps. SCARY, HU? READ THE BACK! (Even the ones claiming to be natural or clean). BUT the soaps at SANDY CREEK SOAP COMPANY are organic, natural AND eco friendly.

Really, if you are having ANY type of skin problems I urge you to try it! I tell everyone I know about them. They are awesome and VERY helpful with questions.... www.SANDYCREEKSOAP.etsy.com ..... And best of all they are CHEAP! Hope this helped....

soak them in soapy solution overnight with whitener if required and then rinse the soap out the next day either by hand or delicate wash on the washing machine if it does not have that program then use a low spin cycle

Use the delicate setting on your washer & use Woolite. They make mesh bags that are great for putting your bras (fastened) in. Never dry your bras in a dryer. Dry them by laying them on a towel. It's okay to dry the rest on "delicate" in the dryer.
