I took the Depo shot for about 1 1/2 years. My last shot was in like late February/early March. I was supposed to get my shot mid June, I think. I decided that I did not want to take it anymore. I had my first period since coming off of it in late June. I have not had one since then. I have had sex, but used a condom. I have been feeling really nauseous. Pregnancy seems very unlikely. I was wondering if nauseau could be a symptom of coming off of Depo. I was also wondering how long it would generally take for me to resume normal menstruation.

Also, I was really sick last week and am on antibiotics this week, so I suppose that the nauseau could be totally unrelated.

I did talk to my doctor before coming off of depo. And how else do you stop taking it? You can't ease yourself off of it. You either take the shot or you don't.

My affects of getting off of depo:

relief

libido back

no more weight gain

no more mood swings

no more spotty periods

etc etc

It might not be because of getting off of depo, I'd talk to a doctor if you are very concerned.

If you have had sex you COULD be pregnant, even with depo and a condom (very little chance but there is a chance!). I know women who HAVE gotten pregnant while ON depo!

It could take you up to and over a year to regain your periods.

when i came off depo for a year my doctor said it could take up to a year before i resumed having normal periods. he also said it would be a year before there would be any chance of getting pregnant (i wasnt trying they just suggest you go off of depo after 2 years)

no matter what before going off depo you should talk to your doctor... its really the safest option you shouldnt have just missed your shot completly
