I just took tums thinking it treats diarria and it doesn't. So, now I finally found the thing that does treat it but I don't know if I should take it...the thing that does treat diarria that I found is called "Equate Stomach Relief"

they're basically brand name chewable tablets

Why do you have diarrhea? You need to figure that out before you start taking stuff to stop it.

If you ate something bad then you should not take anything to stop it - just drink lots of fluids to help flush your system and to stay hydrated. Your body is trying to get the bacteria out...

Now if you just ate a lot of sweets or fatty food... actually I would do the same thing - lots of fluids and eat some high fiber stuff - apples or brown rice - beans... so that you can get your body back in balance.

Now if you have had diarrhea for a few days and it won't stop then take something or see a doctor - you can get really dehydrated and may need their help to get re-hydrated.

The tums isn't going to make any difference. Go ahead and take the stomach relief stuff.

I don't think something called "Stomach Relief" treats diarrhea.. Kaopectate or Imodium is what you want. You also should think about taking Pedilayte to replace fluid and salts.

Also, if you have diarrhea, you really need to see a doctor to find out why. You may have a serious illness.

This just shows you that you should read the labels on things you take, to make sure you're taking the right thing and the right amount.
If you have found a product that says it treats diarrhea, its worth a try (I wouldn't, I take natural remedies before I'd take an over-the-counter product containing who-knows-what synthetic chemicals).

Look in your phone book for a 24 hr pharmacy & ask to speak to the pharmacist on duty. You can tell them what you took & what you want to take & they can tell you if it's safe. They will have no problem doing this for you,, that is the job of a pharmacist & it's free & professional advise.

Hope your tummy feels better.

tums are prdominatly calcium, which your body needs anyway. there should not be any reaction to the two. you might concider reading the bottle of the medication before you take it :)
