Not trying to bash or anything, just curious.
Why would one be proud of something they have no control over?
White pride, black power, etc. just seem idiotic to me.

Mimi- what do you mean I 'Didn't do it'?

Vicky - It's great that you are confident, and comfortable with yourself. But why are you proud of something that you have no control whatsoever over?
To me, it seems ridiculous, like being proud of yourself for simply being blonde, or something.
You didn't do anything to achieve your race, so pride seems like wrong word.

Yes, because race matters to people. No matter how far any society has advanced. You still can't hide your race or skin color. Everyone has the right to be proud of their race or ethnicity.

Because everyone is entitled to pride in themselves. There's no racial group in this entire world that regardless of any history is not entitled to that. What they aren't entitled to is supermacy with the intent of hating other races.

Excessive pride is bad, but identifying your race as something that makes you unique is perfectly fine. It doesn't defy equality views, because pride and supremacy are not the same thing. I have a flag tattooed on both of my arms, that signify two of the three racial groups that make up me: I have pride, but it's my own thing. I would not be offended if someone had an American flag printed on their arm, German flag, South Korean flag, whatever.... It's all on in how you view others.

I am black and I am just proud of being a human being. The fact that I am black is wondeful to me, I love being black. Regardless of all the racism in this world towards blacks, I would not change who I am for anyone. Not that I could anyway, that is impossible. If I was white I would be proud to be white.

Great question. Not easy to answer.
The bottom line is that the human condition is deeply rooted in ego. Being part of a group is a huge dynamic for most people because it feeds the ego. So much for being individualistic!
