I probably know it as well as a high school graduate, possibly as well as a BA who is not a history major. I have a bunch of cool DVDs from The History Channel, which helps. And I've read a fair amount of history on my own. I like history, although I'm more interested in social history than military history. I mean, I know wars change things, but it's really more interesting to know about the home front than the battlefield. Maybe that's because I'm a female. And political history is interesting in biographies of politically active people, but not so much in memorizing all the presidents and their dates in office, that sort of thing.
P.S. Oh yeah, legal history is interesting, too. I had a year of law school, worked for the state Attorney General, then a county Superior Court, and then was a legal secretary for 16 years. Constitutional Law was my favorite in Law School.

I would say about a nine.
I really enjoyed the book , "Lady Washington, the Story of America's First Lady", Written by Dorothy Clarke Wilson. It certainly gave me a better understanding of our Nation's beginnings.
Also, "The Light and the Glory", by Peter Marshal.
The books by Jane Kirkpatrick are wonderful in bringing history to life, and acquainting us with the strong women of our heritage. Her books were the most empowering!
