I think healthcare costs are high and maybe we should think of ways to control and bring cown costs. I just don't want the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT involved to screw it up.

The most important aspect of the argument is that the Federal Government has no constitutional right and is in fact forbidden from being involved in providing, delivering, guaranteeing or controlling the health care of anyone other than Federal employees. If individual states wish to be involved in providing insurance, free lollipops or new cars to their citizens they may do so but the Federal Government may not.

The Federal Government routinely oversteps its authority by providing Federal Grant monies to States with strings attached. This is a vile and dangerous form of corruption.

Back in the 1970's during the oil shortage, the Federal Government wished to force all states to change their top speed limit to 55 mph. It has no authority to do so, but simply threatened to cut of Federal highway money if the states did not comply. Soon, the speed limit was 55.

The Federal Government uses this tactic to by pass the Constitution all the time. They provide money for school lunch programs for instance. That allows them to interfere with the public schools. They now set the curriculum, mandate which text books are acceptable, mandate which subjects will be taught and impose all manner of experimental and highly suspect teaching methodology on the schools. So great has this interference become that many people I speak to believe that the Federal Government provides public education. It does not, the State governments do that. There are no Federal schools.

Now that they have made a mess of the public education system (once the envy of the world) they are ready to take over health care.

The scariest part of the Hillary Health Care Reform plan are her strongest supporters. Who are they? Many of the major
corporations. (Funny, I thought liberals loved to demonize major corporations). Companies such as General Motors and others that made poor decisions during contract negotiations that now overburden them are seeking a back door way out by no longer having to provide the health insurance they promised the retirees. This will shift the cost away from the corporate ledger and onto the American tax payer. Hillary wishes to find a way to stealthily provide free health care to the illegal aliens.

Think about it. There are nearly 305 million citizens in America only about 40 million do not have health care coverage. This number includes the super rich who do not need and do not want the limitations of health care insurance, people pulling in over fifty thousand a year but still don't want to buy insurance. many who are already eligible for Medicaid but for various reasons have not applied for it, young people who can afford it but do not think they need it an would rather spend their money on other things.

States like Massachusetts have already implemented state run programs that provide affordable insurance to 100% of its citizens. Finally, no person is denied critical medical care due to lack of funding. Something that the illegal aliens exploit at will.

We have the finest health care in the world. It will not be for long if we go the Canadian or European route. Prepare for long lines, poor service and a health care delivery system akin to the Division of Motor Vehicles.

You've taken the doctors out of the picture. As a businessperson, you must realize that medicine is as much of a business as a passion. How would you like it if you had a number of clients and only one Accounts Receivable account? Wouldn't that one account pretty much have you over a barrel if say, they decided to not pay you? Or they decided how much your business services or goods were worth? Having a one payor system does exactly that. Or take the patients. Say there's only one store in town. Let's say Staples. Staples would decide what kinds of goods and services they're going to carry. Say you need a 355 toner cartridge and they don't carry it. Well, there's not any other stores in town that carry that, and you'll just have to live without that toner cartridge, sorry. This is what it's like when you don't have a choice of services available and the government determines what they're going to pay for. As it is, you can go to Office Max or somewhere else to get that toner cartridge - and yeah, you may have to jump through some hoops to find it, but it's available. Oh and if you think the paperwork will go away under universal care? You must not have ever worked for a doctor's office that deals with medicare and medicaid. The paperwork is much more detailed than with regular insurance, ad the rules far more stringent.

First of all nothing is free. Someone has to pay period. Second I think a lot could be done to drop the price of healthcare and to make it where those who do not have the funds to afford insurance, could be cared for by doctors that owe student loans. This could help in a number of ways. The doctor will work in a free clinic one day a week until his student loans are paid off completely. The doctor will be compensated with reductions in his student loan for this service. The people that can least afford heathcare could have a means of seeing a doctor for healthcare.

Here is the thing, it isn't free. It will cost billions and it will take all of the controls we currently have away...and we will end up with less than a Walter Reed scenario.

...not to mention this requirement for physicals,. the AMA has already said there is not enough doctors here to do this...
...Look at Medicare, look at the medicals for Vets...and you want to give them another Job...ridiculous.
...case in point, me and my Hubie are 43, 52 and both healthy. We currently pay for insurance 150 a month with a 5,000 deductible and have 5,000 in a savings. We were paying 700 a month and figured out that we could put that away for 1 year and more less save money and still be covered....no No...that is just toooo smart...Hitlery will raise my taxes and I will be back paying 700 a month...and for what?
...We already have Medicaid for our poor, and Medicare for our old, so for what,,...? a vote and to create another IRS situation?...I guess Hitlary would probably do random drug screens , or monitor you credit card to see if you drink too much...
...Let the flood gates begin.......!

HMO's are run for profit, they do not care about providing affordable health care coverage to people. Until you can completely overhaul the health care system little will change. Universal health care is another talking point by the Democrats few if any of the current Presidential candidates have a viable plan for reigning in the cost of healthcare.

Why is health care so expensive in the first place? Could it have something to do with government over regulation? Could it have something to do with predatory lawyers waiting to pounce on every health care provider who fails to dot an i on a patients chart. Doctors are so paranoid of lawsuits that they run tests for everything just to cover their rears. Remember this, FREE health care will NOT be free and the quality will be guaranteed to go down the drain.

There is no such thing as "free" health care. And NO ONE has a plan to make it free! Read up on the proposals, and the possibilities!

And...even the Queen of the Conservatives realizes that the Feds screw everything up! Who'd a thunk it ??????

"Welfare types" like I used to be have something to say so listen up! hahaha.
When I was a single mother there was no way I could have afforded insurance even it was discounted. Not in this country anyway.
Healthcare is a right and not a priviledge. But dah dah dah, this is the same old song and dance.
I think I deserve a monthly stipend just for breeding new Americans.

Hey RLP, how'd I do? I found my 'spoon'.....hehehehe

Make current health care more affordable, which could be done by offering a government-funded alternative (NOT by eliminating private insurance). Private insurance companies would have to lower their prices in order to stay in business, but could offer better coverage.

This should all be done at the state level, though.

Nothing in life is free. It may be "free" to the recipient but someone somewhere is paying or has paid the price.
So I will answer B) make healthcare more affordable.
