How will I be able to distinguish whether this awful tension/weighted feeling in my chest is that of anxiety [I do have OCD and have been molested in the past; I am already taking medication and am getting help from a therapist] or it is that I dont want something and Im forcing myself to do it?

This happens mostly in relationships with boys. How can I know which one is coming up?

It probably comes from being overly self conscious. Try to forget about yourself and give your full attention to the people you are with. Low self esteem and depression can cause anxiety also. Forget about self, think about others.

You have to learn to control it and if it happens know it ain't goin to kill you. If your heart starts palpatationg you need to take some short breaths and try to control it, sit down and relax. You didn't mention if they put you on a SSRI, it so and you want to know if lyou really need it take some St. John's Wart. In Europe they use St. John's instead of all the drugs we have even though they can get them real cheap like in Mexico and Canada, that tells you it works.

It your mind is racing and the doctor is giving you a sedative to slow down your gaba you can try some inosital. Other than that you have to make the call as noone can feel what you are feeling. As far as the OCD start stopping every now and then and if nothing bad happens stop doing it more and start enjoying life more. Take Care!

I have anxiety too, is it awful. I haven't yet found a way to figure out what is anxiety and what is not. I do deep breathing, and try to be as positive as I can. I think you just have to live your life as best you can, I do know you can recover from anxiety, I have in the past. Try to find ways to deal with it, I took a yoga class and it seemed to help. Hang in there, focus on the future and not the past. Good luck.

It sounds like you are wondering if your anxiety is a genuine warning signal about a situation, or if it is unfounded and part of a disorder.

If the thought of forcing yourself to do something brings up feelings of anxiety, those feelings are real, and you need to pay attention to them. People who have general anxiety disorder get anxious for no reason at all, there is nothing to tie it to. For more information on anxiety symptoms check my resource.
