Public speaking is the number two thing people are afraid of, so do not feel alone (number one is death!). I used to be the same way.
Most people start to get over it through practice and imagination. Practice giving the report or presenting the project. Go in a room where you can close the door and present it to your stuffed animals or toys or anything. Take questions from your make-believe audience. Talk out loud.
You will stumble a few times, but who cares? These are your silent friends.
By the time Friday comes around, you will have presented the material 5 or 10 times. The class presentation will be just another presentation of the same material - no problem!

1. Realize you are not alone, most people rather get a serious disease than speak in public.
2. Focus on impressing your teacher not your classmates, the teacher is the one grading you.
3. Practice, practice, practice. Try giving the presentation to family or friends first. It will make you more comfortable giving the speech and you can get good feedback.
4. Take a public speaking class, this is not a natural skill for 99% of the people in the world. If that is not available in your school, look for a Toastmasters group. Its a free organization of people working on thier public speaking skills.

Yikes. Public speaking can be terrifying for anybody even if they aren't shy it's dreadful. All I can say is make sure you speak clearly and loudly so everyone can hear you and push comes to shove ask your teacher if you can pass on the presentation part of the of the project. Some people are understanding of this hopefully your teacher is one of them. Good luck. =)

aww Gawd! i used to hate speeches in front of the class, my heart would be pounding i feel like i could have passed out. then i stand up and start talking and hearing my own voice about the subject, then i sort of started to relax and just get though it. There is no easy way around these things in life, ask if you can pass on the presentation if you can in Lieu of something else.
i just wanna wish you good luck anyway..

Ugh, I had the same problem.... I don't think you can possibly become unshy by next week, but as painful as this will be, it will help you to be less shy in the future. You'll get used to it little by little. Hope it goes well.
