he actually said:
"the imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time"
people twisted this into meaning that he wanted to wipe israel off the map. AJad clarified later, saying "are we to understand that allowing the original inhabitants of these lands - inside and outside Palestine - whether they are Christian, Muslim or Jew, to determine their fate, runs contrary to principles of democracy, human rights and the teachings of prophets?"
he's saying that displacing palestinians from their home goes against the principles of democracy. also, Israel denies rights to people that aren't Jewish: that's not a very democratic principle either.
the media doesn't tell you this, because it doesn't make for good tv. the media always focuses on the negative side of things.

the media also aired this portion of a statement given by AJad:
"I think that the Israeli government is a fabricated government"
and didn't air the rest of the comment:
"I think that the Israeli government is a fabricated government and I have talked about the solution. The solution is democracy. We have said allow Palestinian people to participate in a free and fair referendum to express their views. What we are saying only serves the cause of durable peace. We want durable peace in that part of the world. A durable peace will only come about with once the views of the people are met.
So we said that allow the people of Palestine to participate in a referendum to choose their desired government, and of course, for the war to come an end as well. Why are they refusing to allow this to go ahead? Even the Palestinian administration and government which has been elected by the people is being attacked on a daily basis, and its high-ranking officials are assassinated and arrested."

"So how long can this go on?
We believe that this problem has to be dealt with fundamentally. I believe that the American government is blindly supporting this government of occupation. It should lift its support, allow the people to participate in free and fair elections. Whatever happens let it be. We will accept and go along. The result will be as you said earlier, sir. "

You can believe that, but Isreal is not a government of occupations. It is a legally established country by the UN. So untile the UN declares that, as well as the international community, you foundation is wrong and is only your opinion.
The Palastinians were forced by other arabs to live in that area as they were kicked out of other arab countries. Infact, if the Palastinians wanted a real Palastinian country, they would ba attacking Jordan, that has way more Palastinians then Isreal does and contains 80% of what was originally called "Palastine." Palastinian isnt even a Muslim name, it was Roman. The reason they dont attack Jordan is because they get more money for the terrorist organizations from attacking Jews instead of Arabs.
Arabs do have rights in Isreal. The same cannot be said for Jews, Christians, Pagans, Buddist, Hindu or anyone else living in a lot of Arab countries. The Palastinians are often targeted because Isreal profiles. They profile bacause its not Christians bombing school busses and harboring those that engage in this activity. Palastinians that participate with the Jews, often come out successful. Those that follow the Palastinian Nation line and fight or support the fighters against the LEGAL government of Isreal end up in those areas.
Isreal has several times supported giving Palastinians their own countries, but everytime they do, they demand more land, recently land that was originally designated by the UN in 1947. They dont want their own country, they want Isreal attacked. If they did, they would have taken the original land they had before all the other Arab countries tried to attack Isreal.

While I sympathize with the plight of the Palestinian people under military occupation and support their quest for a homeland free of settlements with a fair land swap and East Jerusalem as a capital, I also support Israel's right to exist as a Zionist entity with a Jewish majority. They have a right to self-defense against Lebanon, Palestinian terrorists and Iran.
They should not be obligated to negotiate the right of return for Palestinian refugees into either Palestine or Israel, nor should they have to pay them off. They are not responsible. I like balanced views on issues.
I do not feel that apartheid and racism are issues in this conflict, but equal concerns on both sides. There is no need for anti-Semitic hate against Israel. It threatens the stability of the region. By calling into question the viability and security of Israel as a country, fundamentalism gets in the way of creating a Palestinian homeland. The mentality has to change. Intifada, election of Hamass and support for extremism help to maintain this occupation.

"Imam ghoft een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad."
That passage will mean nothing to most people, but one word might ring a bell: rezhim-e. It is the word "Regime", pronounced just like the English word with an extra "eh" sound at the end. Ahmadinejad did not refer to Israel the country or Israel the land mass, but the Israeli regime. This is a vastly significant distinction, as one cannot wipe a regime off the map. Ahmadinejad does not even refer to Israel by name, he instead uses the specific phrase "rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods" (regime occupying Jerusalem).
So this raises the question.. what exactly did he want "wiped from the map"? The answer is: nothing. That's because the word "map" was never used. The Persian word for map, "nagsheh", is not contained anywhere in his original farsi quote, or, for that matter, anywhere in his entire speech. Nor was the western phrase "wipe out" ever said. Yet we are led to believe that Iran's President threatened to "wipe Israel off the map", despite never having uttered the words "map", "wipe out" or even "Israel".
THE PROOF:
The full quote translated directly to English:
"The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time".
Word by word translation:
Imam (Khomeini) ghoft (said) een (this) rezhim-e (regime) ishghalgar-e (occupying) qods (Jerusalem) bayad (must) az safheh-ye ruzgar (from page of time) mahv shavad (vanish from).
Here is the full transcript of the speech in farsi, archived on Ahmadinejad's web site
www.president.ir/farsi/ahmadinejad/speeches/1384/aban-84/840804sahyonizm.htm
The American media is using this twisted and incorrect translation to use its psychological warfare on its own people to achieve its terrorist based adjenda in taking over the middle east and using its oil for its own benefit under the watch of the Zionists lobbyist. Its very clear and only idiots and cowboys cant see this obvious truth.

Why,indeed?
As usual, our media gives a one-sided report of what is going on in the middle east.
The expulsion of the Palestinians,Muslims and Christians ,from their homeland is an international outrage. That we have consistently failed to acknowledge this injustice is our shame and our stupidity.
Thank you for calling our attention to the WHOLE of the Iman's statement.
Poor man! Does he really believe that the U.S. cares about democratic principals? Time and again we have shown that all we care about in that part of the world is what Israel dictates! We have not backed the democratic governments in Palestine or Lebanon when both have been attacked by Israel.
I would like to think that it is this Bush administration that is culpable of such crass unfairness but it really does not matter which party is in the White House.
To all of you who object:
Imagine a scenario wherein the Hispanic descendants( both native Americans and mestizos) of the original Spanish states(California,Nevada,Arizona,Montana,Colorado,New Mexico,Texas,Louisiana, and Florida)claimed their HISTORIC birthright and decided to take back their ancient homeland. It doesn't matter that 4 or 5 hundred years have gone by. hell, there was no statute of limitations for Israel so why should these people worry about 5 centuries!!
Having taken the land back by force they then expell forcibly all those who are not native American or of mixed native american and Hispanic descent. A few non Hispanics still manage to stay but are treated as second class citizens.
Factor into this scenario the UNQUESTIONING support of the EU and Russia, both willing to pour billions of Euros into this new Hispamerica to arm it and help it develope nuclear weapons. They will push for its immediate recognition by the U.N.,with the full support of all the other American countries including Canada. However, the superpower(EU +Russia),will turn a blind eye every time this new state violates any U.N. regulation. Given its strategic importance on the American continent ,the superpower (EU +Russia) will back Hispamerica no matter what it does or how cruelly it treats the refugees.
Oklahoma will absorb all the Texans for a while but eventually violence will break out. In Arkansas they will soon tire of all those Florida and Louisiana refugees living in trailer camps. And so on and so forth.

Ishmael. There is no Palestine other than Israel named that by the Romans. In the time of the resettlement of Israel there were no Arabs other than Nomads. As the Jews returned so did the Arab nations send in settlers. Today there is no Palestine except for lands confiscated from countries which surrounded a tiny nation to attempt to destroy it. Israel did not wait and took the battle to them. God is and Israel is. Mohammad was rejected by the Jews in the 15th century. And where were the Jews? In Israel.

it is just further proof that the media is NOT liberal. You have to know that the Bush admin. folks know he didn't say that, yet they will use the lie that he did say it any chance they can or in an effort to build up excuses for war against Iran.

No fan of current government of Israel, but still think that he directly said in speech, "We will vaporize Israel." It reminded me of Russian Leader in NY in early 60's, but you got me wondering what he actually said. Wish that video could be pulled up to see if it was doctored.
