i know this is a totally dumb question. i just ran into a problem.. i usually deposit checks in the ATM but didn't have my card, so was going to put it in the night time depository box.. so i drive up to it and it says "pull" and this big heavy thingie comes out with giant grooves.. absolutely nowhere to put a check. i'm so confused.

i really need to know this for future reference.

I would see your closest bank branch and get a key for the Night deposit box and to get a low down on what exactly they want. Mine just requires a Deposit envelope and slip with the checks and then on Monday I go in and pick up the deposit receipt that says how much I put in and I have a copy of what checks and the amounts that I deposited. For the Coffeeshop there is a separate bag that the bank gives you and all the checks and card slips and cash goes in it and then the really big drawer door is opened with a key and the bag is put in there. Good luck I hope this helps. Don't worry you don't have to be Mego mart to use the night deposit.

I copied this from a bank FAQ page.

"When the WCU office is closed, you may use the night deposit box to make deposits. If you are using a deposit bag, you will need a key to access the night deposit. Please ask for a key if you need one. We open our night deposit box every morning, Monday through Saturday. You may pick up your deposit bag/receipt any business day after 11:00 am. All deposits put in the night deposit box on Sunday will be deposited on the next business day."

I don't know what the grooves are, but the one at my bank is kinda like a Blue Postal box, except when you pull the lever, you put your deposit envelope in(make sure you have a deposit slip with your check) and then you drop your deposit in and it goes into a locked safe until the following morning when the bankers take it out.

The big drop is for business who have large deposits ( Checks , cash , coin etc ) that would not fit in an ATM .
Chill , deposit it tomorrow . Weekend not a business day anyway .
