Have you ever heard of the constitution. I have a right to bear arms. When the criminals disarm, so will I. Tell us a country that doesn't have crime. There's no place on earth that doesn't have criminals, but we have the right to protect ourselves from them.

Why should I leave I house that I bought and paid for, that our constitution says I have a right to enjoy in peace, and our same constitution states that I have a right to bear arms. Get smart and leave? Only the dumb and ignorant would leave behind what's rightfully theirs.
Oh, and I don't keep guns because I live in fear. I keep guns for target practice (and because I can). Even if an intruder was brave enuf to get into my place, it wouldn't be the guns he'd fear first. I keep a Rottweiler for that purpose (and because I can) :-)

Just as fences make good neighbors, so too do household guns make safe neighborhoods! It is not "fear" but civilization that argues for each household (and business) being its own first line of defense, instead of relying upon government for the illusion of security.
You should read the book "More Guns; Less Crime".
The title says it all, but the book provides overwhelming evidence.
While "the right of the people to be safe in their homes" is a legitimate concern of government, it is the people themselves who must do what they can, first.
P.S. You also ask, "why don't you get smart and leave?"
Are you suggesting that smart people should leave their homes?
(Should they take their guns with them?
Or do you want to disarm the helpless homeless, too?)

The second amendment supports my right to keep a gun in my home. And that little thing about moving,c'mon,do you really think I'm going to let a bunch of thugs scare me off? By the way, statistics prove that places with strong pro gun laws have less crime.Just look up Kennesaw,Georgia and you'll see what I mean.

I keep them , for two reasons ,
1- is because I love shooting them anytime I want , because I can ...
2 - ( this is the main reason ) I keep them all loaded , just in case God hears my prayer . I pray daily** " God , I pray you let the next home invasion happen here at my house instead of anothers , I am locked and loaded dear Lord. I just pray a MF would pick my house , and give me a reason to send him up to see you and account for his stupidity before you cast him straight into Hell ..Lord hear my prayer , I ask in your name ...Amen.
But there is no fear , Fear is not an option in my house , I live for the day some dumb@ss idiot runs up in my house ,and tells me to give him money or anything else , this is my house ,and no one ,and I mean no one will come in here ,and take over ...I fear No One ................

Gee, whiz...I never thought of that!
I live in a bad neighborhood. But...it's my home. Why shouldn't I fight to keep this place from being totally overrun by crime? Why should I give up a house that I have bought and paid for (yes, it's paid off...) so that hoodlums can move in? There are kids in my neighborhood that need a decent role model, that need a positive example in thier life. So...I'll keep my gun, and my neighborhood, thank you very much.

Joan H's answer is right. There's crime in every country in the world. And actually, the ones where guns are illegal tend to have more crime than the ones where guns are legal. Examine the UK vs. Switzerland, for example.

communities with the highest rate of gun ownership have the lowest crime rates... Owning a gun because it is one's right doesnt mean the community is scary. Private gun ownership is a significant block against a government/military take over.

I keep a gun for the simple reason that I would rather have a gun I don't need than need a gun I don't have.
