It depends how well organized you are. I plan to start at 40 1/2 and continue to 46.
For men, I think that's the average. I actually believe women go through their mid-life crisis in their mid to late 30's. Considering that men are usually older than their female partners, this means that both the man and woman can be going through the mid-life crisis at the same time.
It would be interesting to see if the divorce rate when the woman is say 36 to 40 at the same time the husband is 40 to 45 is higher than at other age breaks.

I am not entirely certain I am 39 and all those things plus so many more have hit me in the last few months. I am also an emotional roller coaster. I wish it would stop. I do not like having no control. I do know that the doctor will say it can happen between the ages of 40 and last untill 50ish.
Ten years of h*ll

Well, let me see, I had my first one at 25, then another at 29, then, let's see, it was 36. 37 and 38 were ok, but 39 was down on me like gators on a frog. 44 and 45 were both bad crisis years, as was 49 and 51. 57 was the last one, so I guess the range would be from 25 to 57.
Love to you and yours

I think the stats on women who fear being alone contradict some of the comments about how women do not need men much now that the feminist era has gone into full bloom.
It simply is not true...and not much has changes in that regard, as people (not just women, just women fear it more than men) fear being alone, as it triggers all kinds of inner existential turmoil.
While one particular female may say it does not apply to her situation, the truth is that "coupling and longevity" is something women strive for (and men, to a lesser degree do, and more so in later in life, after possible sexual satiation or lack of prowess via midlife.)
All people fear unhappiness, emptiness and purposeless existence. Yet, as we age, we touch this inevitability more, and many become more desperate (and bitter) in attempts to stave it off. I would gather that this is the #1 reason for the increase in divorce at/in midlife (35-55-ish)

I'd say 45 to 55. I had no problem turning 40, but next month I'll turn 50 and I'm not looking forward to it!

40s-50s. You might just be going through the difficult years for a girl, they run from puberty to menopause.
