I am trying to leave my barn, because I am intimidated by my trainer and can't learn from him. So I am wanting to go to another barn were I can learn and actually talk to my trainer. I need to know how I approach him, and tell him I'm leaving without causing a huge problem. Also I have to give a 30 day notice, and those last days will be hell, any suggestions for that???? I just don't want to leave with a huge problem, cause I know I'll see him at shows, and don't want to create problems for my new trainer!!!
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Thanks

Sometimes, no matter what you do, things just end ugly and theres nothing you can do about it.

The best thing you can do is just tell him that you are switching barns, you have friends over there that you would be able to ride with more often. If its closer to you, I would use that as an excuse. Just tell them something benign that isn't accusatory.

Then just dodge the bullets for those 30 days. Just keep your chin up, be polite, smile, be happy and just get out of there when its time.

Hopefully it will all go well, but if it doesn't you know you did everything you could do to try to make it positive.

It's good that you know whats best for you and your horse and know that you need to switch trainers. You will probably just have to confront him one day and say that you have dicided to switch trainers. You could lie and tell him that it isn't his fault you just feel that this is the right way to go or that you want your horse to be trained under several different trainers so he can be more versatile and so you can know different training methods. You can always tell him the flat out truth ,but this might cause a whole lot more tension. It should be easy to find a another trainer and barn in your area. Hope you find one.

Why do you think you have to explain yourself? There is absolutely no reason you should; it's none of his business why you have decided to leave. If he has the nerve to ask, just tell him you have found another barn that is a "better fit" for you.
All you need to do is write to him and give your notice, by saying:
"Dear So and So,
I will be vacating your facility on October 25, 2007. Please consider this as my 30-day notice.
Thank you for having us,
Jane Doe"
