I just answered a question from a little girl who was very despondent. I gave her my optimistic words of encouragement then I read everyone else's answers. People gave her their phone #s and email addresses so that she could reach out to them. I think that is so awesome that there are many good, honest, decent people in the world. Do you think that basically most people are good, God-loving people who believe in doing right or are most people lying, cheating, scumbags only after more for themselves in YOUR opinion?

I'd like to believe that most people are good, with good intentions, but we have to temper our eagerness so that we never fall prey to those who are evil.

Mankind is inherently evil because of Edenic sin. I as a Christian am not excluded from that number. My fallen human nature is utterly corrupt. the new person that I am in Christ wars with the old person that I was before I found Christ or Christ found me. I must struggle daily to be "good." Even then, I fail. What choice do I have but to get up and try again and again. If salvation is this difficult for the man or woman of God, how will those who give free rein to the evil inclinations of the heart ever be saved?

I think most people are good to start with. I think the forces of the world can weaken and twist them to become lying, cheating, scumbags though. Overall, however, I think more people are good than bad. We just notice the bad ones more. They're like highlighters.

People don't have to believe in God to be good. (I'm a Christian BTW). I guess as long as people believe in something, anything, that keeps them human- yeah, people are basically good. That's just how we were made to be.
