So there is a "white tree" that traditionally only white people sit under.... now seriously, what the F is that?... that's so friggen stupid, and the black kids had asked permission to sit under the tree???!?! ... uh... what? permission to sit under a tree?... I'm so confused.

And then the DA gets involved and threatened the black kids before they did anything wrong? (This is the real crime if it really happened.. that DA should be on trial if this really happened).

I don't support just freeing the Jena 6. I think they should take the whole slew of kids ... white and black, and put them in jail together for a few months. Real World Jena. Learn to get along kids.

I can't fathom this kind of stupidity existing today. I think ALL of the kids should be punished for behaving like idiots (all are in the wrong you can't threaten or intimidate, and you can't beat someone).

What is wrong with the people in this town? Is there lead in the drinking water?

You've prejudged an entire race as having the same negative characteristic. Way to go. You're part of the problem.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Lead in the drinking water!
The whole crew (both sides) is messed up when you check into it.

There was no " white ' tree. You are buying into propaganda. The teachers there and the staff would know. They say both black and white sat under that tree off and on throughout the year. Think about it. Do you honestly believe a school would allow a " white" tree and would make black students ask for permission? Of course not. If reported , they would have accreditation problems with the state and even far worse legal wrangling.

There is nothing wrong with the people of Jena. They have a black mayor who is also sick of these myths.

Think, people, think.

last school year some white kids put nooses in the tree. they were suspended from school. just punishment for stupidity. the jena 6 are 6 black kids that ganged up together and beat up one white kid pretty severely. it looked like the 6 were trying to kill the one (don't think he had anything to do with the nooses). definitely a hate crime. they were charged with assault. seems fair for 6 on one. they were not charged with a hate crime, which they should have been. they definitely got a break. one was probably 17 and was charged as an adult. he's getting a new trial. yes racism is definitely a factor here, but guess which way it goes.

I think you should get your facts straight and clear your "confusion" before you start asking questions about such a touchy subject. Let me tell you a few facts.

Fact: The noose being hung occurred 3 months prior to the boy being beat and he was in no way involved in it.

Fact: More than half of the boys who beat the other boy had prior records for assault which always makes sentencing more harsh because they are repeat offenders.

Anyone who says or wears a shirt saying "free the jena 6" is implying they should get no punishment at all which is obviously condoning hate crime against whites.

I agree . I would expect that by college age they should learn to get along. They must prepare for the world of work.

I heard the tree was cut down. I think it's drastic , but if that is what it takes , let them all do without the shade until they can learn to get along.

The school needs a policy that if anyone hits anyone , they call the police and the police handle it.

they're using their skin color as an advantage to get off easily for comitting a crime. if a white male beat up a black male, then surely they'd get a more severe punishment.

the law today is so unfair, especially now that slavery is abolished and that little african americans think they can do what ever they want.
