People speak about the desire for happiness, however, how much happiness can you afford? In your list of things that wealth would allow you to do, what is that you cannot do for lack of financial resources?

Hermit...I am curious though if it is customary for you to judge others in this fashion.
Can we assume you have the financial means to do all that would make you happy? That was the question that I was asking.

Happiness doesn't come from added wealth,
but subtracted desires.

At the moment, I do not have the financial resources to buy a house. I Rent an apartment, which means every month I throw my money into the fire - while making somebody else rich. Buying a house to me is like purchasing my way into freedom. Right now I`am owned, I can`t wait to own myself. That`s a piece of happiness that I cannot afford as of yet!

With due respect to you my good friend, allow me to ask this, what if desire, fulfilled, leads to another desire? Perhaps it is better that we should never be content. Happiness, says an old lesson, lies rather in achievement that in possession or satiation. The healthy man asks not so much for happiness as for an opporutnity to exercise his capacities. And if he must pay the penalty of pain for this freedom and this power he makes the forfeit cheerfully, it is not to great a price. We need resistance to raise us, as it raises the airplane or the bird. We need obstacles against which to sharpen our strength and stimulate our growth. Life without tragedy would be unworthy of a man.
Thanks for the question. Have a wonderful weekend!

I pretty much have all I need to be happy. Happiness is a state of mind. It's a choice.
There are things that wealth would allow me to do - but those things - and money - have nothing to do with my happiness.

I better have more money to overcome hard times (like legal advice or health care) than friend who, at the end, might not be there when you need them. So if I'm gonna be alone during hard times at least I want the financial means to support myself during such.

A temporary diversion can be bought, but the nature of ones own inner bliss cannot be bought. Real happiness has to be cultured in ones inner self.

Happiness is not dependent upon wealth.
Weath brings you many things, but not happiness.
Happiness comes in seeking truth, practicing love, and relishing everything in the world that is beautiful.

I would not ask for any more financial responsibilities than I already have. I can only afford the happiness already available. Thanks anyway... in other words I'm happy as is.

You cannot be too happy. Money will not make you happy. You cannot live financially without it, but God will provide if you believe.

I agree that the more you have the happier one can be. Not only for themselves but to have the ability to help others. With helping our fellow man we can find great happiness,
