I work with stained glass for a living and use a Toyo glass cutter which works extremely well for hand cutting glass. The cutters are much higher quality than a simple glass cutter that you could buy at a hardware store and in my opinion are worth the extra money if you plan to cut a lot of glass. They usually run anywhere from $25-35 depending upon where you buy them.
Toyo makes several different styles of glass cutters including standard pen-shaped glass cutters, pistol grip cutters, and Thomas grip cutters. I use a Thomas grip cutter because it gives me a lot of control over my cuts and is ergonomically designed to help prevent strain when used frequently. If possible you should try to find a stained glass store locally and try holding all of the different styles of cutters to see which one feels the most comfortable to you.

First, those junk cutters at Lowes or Home Depot or your local Hardware store are just that.... Junk.
Go to a glass shop that sells supplies for individuals who work with stained glass. Look under glass supplies in your yellow pages. My friend repairs stained glass church windows and I often use his glass cutter. Anyone can cut glass with a good cutter. Expect to pay around $25 for a good glass cutter.

It really depends on the tile. All tile cuts differently. The width of your cut even makes a difference. You basically have to test your tile to find out. Most tile cuts easily. Tiles from Italy and Brazil can be a nightmare requiring slow water cuts. A set of hand nippers is a must.....to clean cuts and make inside corners......as well as cuts for plumbing and electrical. Shop around.....there are some single use tile tools available on the market.

All professional glass cutters use a oil filled glass cutter but, they're a little spendy, some are as high as $90.00 so if you don't have a lot of glass to cut ?

You score tile with the glass cutter. For other than straight cuts those nippers are still useful.
